Hero MotoCorp Sales Analysis Jan 2026: Hero Retains Lead Over Honda
Hero MotoCorp Sales Analysis January 2026 Hero Continues to Lead as Competition Tightens
Hero MotoCorp remained the largest two wheeler manufacturer in India in January 2026. The company sold 5,20,208 units during the month which shows strong growth compared to 4,12,378 units sold in January last year.
The competition however has become much closer. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India recorded sales of 5,19,579 units during the same period. The difference between both brands stood at only 629 units which makes this one of the closest monthly sales results seen in recent years.
Hero MotoCorp currently holds around 27% share of the Indian two wheeler market. This means nearly one out of every four motorcycles or scooters sold in the country comes from Hero.
Hero Splendor Continues to Drive Sales
The Hero Splendor remained the company’s highest selling model. Hero sold 3,10,802 units of the Splendor in January 2026 which is a healthy increase compared to last year.
The motorcycle continues to attract buyers looking for reliability fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs. Strong demand from rural and urban markets keeps the Splendor at the centre of Hero’s overall sales performance.
Growth From Glamour and Destini 125
The Hero Glamour recorded one of the highest growth rates during the month. Sales increased to 24,092 units from 9,715 units a year earlier showing rising demand in the 125cc commuter segment.
In the scooter category the Hero Destini 125 also delivered strong performance. The model reached sales of 27,782 units supported by its comfortable ride quality and practical design for family use.
The Hero Xoom range also reported steady improvement in demand. The scooter is now available in multiple engine options which helps Hero attract younger buyers.
Mixed Performance From Premium Models
Some premium motorcycles reported lower sales compared to last year. The Hero Xtreme 160R saw reduced demand while the Hero Pleasure recorded a noticeable decline.
This trend suggests that many buyers currently prefer practical commuter motorcycles or are moving toward higher performance premium segments offered by multiple brands.
The Hero Mavrick 440 did not record sales during the month which indicates that existing inventory has been cleared. Market reports suggest an updated version could arrive in the future although the company has not confirmed this yet.
The Electric Shift
Hero’s electric mobility brand Vida continued to grow in January 2026. The company sold 13,830 electric scooters which is more than double the volume recorded last year.
Increasing charging infrastructure and rising fuel costs are encouraging more buyers to consider electric scooters for daily city travel.
