The upcoming Tata Sierra EV has been spotted testing once again on Indian roads, showing that Tata Motors is moving closer to bringing back one of its most iconic SUV names. The Sierra remains one of the most remembered vehicles in India, and its return in an electric form has created strong interest among buyers and enthusiasts.

Although Tata Motors has not officially announced the launch date yet, industry expectations suggest the new Sierra EV could arrive between April and June 2026. Continuous road testing indicates that the company is currently working on final development and real-world validation.

The Classic Sierra Look Is Back With a Modern Design

The new Sierra EV keeps the spirit of the original model while introducing a completely modern design. One of the biggest highlights is the return of the famous Alpine glass windows at the rear, a feature that made the original Sierra instantly recognizable in the 1990s.

The SUV carries a bold boxy shape along with modern styling elements such as Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and a closed front grille designed specifically for better aerodynamic efficiency in an electric vehicle. Test models also suggest large 19-inch alloy wheels along with protective body cladding, giving the SUV a strong and rugged road presence suitable for Indian conditions.

What the Interior Could Offer This Time

Inside, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to introduce a major upgrade in cabin technology compared to current Tata SUVs. Reports indicate a triple-screen dashboard layout that combines infotainment, vehicle information, and driver display into one connected digital setup.

Expected interior highlights include ventilated front seats along with a powered driver seat and a panoramic sunroof designed to improve cabin comfort during long journeys. Tata is also likely to offer a premium Harman sound system with Dolby support together with a 360-degree camera system for easier parking in city environments.

The Sierra EV will be based on Tata Motors’ dedicated Acti.EV platform which has been developed especially for electric vehicles. This architecture allows a flat cabin floor which improves passenger space and seating comfort.

Production of the Tata Sierra EV is expected to take place at Tata’s Sanand manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Market estimates suggest a starting price between ₹15 lakh and ₹18 lakh, while higher all-wheel-drive versions could reach close to ₹25 lakh.

Once launched, the Sierra EV will compete with upcoming electric SUVs such as the Maruti eVitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra BE 6 in the fast-growing Indian EV segment.
