Tata Motors’ Festive Rush: 1 Lakh Cars Delivered, SUV & EV Demand Up

Tata Motors delivered more than 1 lakh vehicles in 30 days, marking a 33% rise over last year’s festive period.

Tata Motors just wrapped up what's probably their best festive season ever. They managed to deliver over one lakh vehicles in just 30 days between Navratri and Diwali. That's a solid 33 percent jump from what they did during the same time last year. For a company that's been fighting hard in India's crowded car market, these numbers actually mean something.

The Nexon basically stole the show. It brought in over 38,000 deliveries during this festive period, which is a massive 73 percent increase compared to last year. The Nexon was also the most dispatched passenger vehicle in India last month, which tells you how much people are trusting this car. Its success comes from having so many variants that there's pretty much a Nexon for everyone's budget and needs.

Right behind the Nexon was the Punch, pulling in around 32,000 units. That's up almost 29 percent from last year's festive season. These two cars – both sitting in that sweet sub-four-meter category – are clearly what's keeping Tata's sales engine running. Indians love these compact SUVs because they get the SUV look without paying through the nose or dealing with parking nightmares in crowded cities.

What's really interesting is how Tata's electric vehicles performed. They sold over 10,000 EVs during this festive stretch, marking a 37 percent jump from last year. Models like the Tiago EV and Punch EV are slowly but surely winning people over. A few years back, most buyers wouldn't even consider an electric car. Now they're actually putting money down on them. Tata's clearly leading India's EV push, and these numbers prove it's not just hype anymore.

Here's something that often gets overlooked – Tata actually got their planning right this year. In previous festive seasons, they had cars but couldn't get them to showrooms fast enough. Demand would spike and customers would face long waiting periods. This time around, dealers had better stock, the logistics worked smoother, and they scheduled production well ahead of time. That meant people could walk into showrooms and actually drive home with their cars instead of waiting weeks or months.

Tata Motors’ Festive Rush: 1 Lakh Cars Delivered, SUV & EV Demand Up

Tata organized retail events before the festive rush started because they knew customers would come looking. This kind of preparation isn't rocket science, but many companies still mess it up. Getting the timing right made all the difference between losing customers to competitors and actually closing sales. When someone's ready to buy during Diwali, they're not going to wait around if another brand can deliver faster.

Shailesh Chandra, who heads Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, seemed pretty pleased with how things turned out. He specifically mentioned how the Nexon pulled off that 73 percent growth and the Punch did its part with 29 percent growth year-on-year. He also pointed out that their entire lineup – not just one or two models – supported this surge. That's important because it shows customers aren't just buying one popular car. They're actually trusting the whole brand.
