Mahindra XEV 9S Teaser Reveals Design Details Ahead of Launch
Mahindra unveils the XEV 9S teaser, its flagship 7-seater EV with INGLO tech, and advanced interior features.
Mahindra has released the first official teaser of its upcoming electric SUV, the XEV 9S. The car will debut on November 27 at the company’s ‘Scream Electric’ event in Bengaluru. The teaser gives us a clear look at the design of the new three-row electric vehicle.
Built on the INGLO Platform
XEV 9S is a 7-seater electric SUV that will be the flagship of Mahindra’s portfolio. It’s the brand’s first born-electric 7-seater built from the ground up on the new INGLO skateboard platform. This platform gives the vehicle a low centre of gravity which improves the ride and handling. The flat battery layout also gives more space inside the cabin even with 3 rows of seating.
Design and Features
The teaser shows some key design elements like LED signatures at both front and rear, a full-width light bar and the Twin Peaks logo with XEV 9S written across the tailgate. The design is inspired from the XUV.e8 and BE.05 concepts shown earlier. This SUV will also have a panoramic sunroof.
Inside, XEV 9S will have a triple screen layout, ventilated and powered seats, Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), multi-zone climate control and smart solutions like sliding second row and adjustable seating layouts to maximize space.
Battery and Charging
XEV 9S will have 2 battery pack options which will be shared with other upcoming electric models. The expected range is over 500 km on a single charge.
The charging will have DC fast charging and bidirectional functionality which is a key feature that allows the vehicle to send power back to the grid or power external devices.
Author's Note:
Mahindra entering into the 3 row electric SUV space with a born-electric platform by using the INGLO skateboard platform is a technical advantage as it allows better packaging and lower centre of gravity than converting an existing internal combustion engine (ICE) model. 500 km range and bidirectional charging are competitive features that directly takes on rivals like Tata Harrier EV and upcoming Hyundai Alcazar EV. By offering a large, feature rich 7-seater electric vehicle Mahindra is targeting the family segment of the electric market. Focusing on a dedicated electric architecture and high end technology shows Mahindra’s clear ambition to be a leader in India’s growing electric SUV space.
