New Tata Sierra to Debut 5 First-Ever Features, Including Triple Screens and tGDi Engine
New Tata Sierra will debut with five features that are a first for Tata Motors, including a triple-screen setup, JBL soundbar, and a new 1.5-litre tGDi engine.
Tata Motors is preparing to launch the all-new Sierra in the mid-size SUV segment, with the full reveal and pricing set for November 25. Ahead of its debut, the company has confirmed several new features that will appear on a Tata vehicle for the first time. These additions are aimed at making the Sierra one of the most feature-rich SUVs in its class. The upgrade list includes advanced cabin technology, improved comfort features, new lighting elements and a brand-new turbo petrol engine. With these updates, the Sierra is positioned as a major step forward for Tata Motors in both design and engineering.
1. Triple-Screen Dashboard Setup
The biggest highlight is the all-new triple-screen layout on the dashboard. This setup includes a digital driver display, a central infotainment unit and a dedicated passenger screen. It is a first for Tata Motors and a first-in-segment feature among mid-size SUVs. The screens are expected to support connected car functions, built-in apps, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This layout gives the cabin a modern and premium feel, similar to high-end global SUVs.
2. 12-Speaker JBL System With SonicShaft Soundbar
Tata is introducing a premium audio setup developed with JBL. The system includes 12 speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a dashboard-mounted SonicShaft soundbar positioned below the centre air vents. This design aims to deliver a richer and more immersive audio experience than what is offered in current Tata models. For buyers who value in-car entertainment, this upgrade will likely be one of the Sierra’s key attractions.
3. Adjustable Under-Thigh Support and Extendable Sun Visors
Comfort has been given a strong focus. The Sierra adds adjustable under-thigh support for the front seats, a first-in-segment addition that benefits tall drivers and passengers during long journeys. The adjustment is manual, but it offers meaningful comfort improvement. The SUV also features extendable sun visors that provide better coverage when the sun shines from the side. Both features aim to improve everyday usability and long-distance comfort.
4. Auxiliary Tail Lamps for Added Safety
Another new addition is the set of auxiliary tail lamps that activate when the boot is open. These lights improve rear visibility at night or in poorly lit areas, helping other road users spot the SUV from a distance. This feature has not appeared on a mass-market Tata vehicle before and gives the Sierra an edge in terms of safety-focused design.
5. New 1.5-Litre tGDi Turbo Petrol Engine
The Sierra will introduce Tata’s new 1.5-litre tGDi turbo petrol engine from the Hyperion powertrain family. This new four-cylinder motor is expected to deliver about 168 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. It will be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The engine aims to give the Sierra stronger performance and better refinement, extending Tata’s push toward premium powertrains in the mid-size SUV space.

Tata Motors is clearly using the Sierra to showcase its most advanced features yet. The triple-screen setup sets a new benchmark for cabin design in the segment. The JBL SonicShaft system and Dolby Atmos support show Tata’s intention to build a premium in-car experience. At the same time, features such as adjustable under-thigh support, extendable visors and auxiliary tail lamps show attention to practical comfort and safety. By debuting the new 1.5-litre tGDi engine on the Sierra, Tata is also preparing its portfolio for stronger performance expectations in the future. With these elements, Tata is aiming to position the Sierra above typical mid-size SUVs, targeting buyers who want technology, comfort and a premium feel without moving to a higher price segment.
