Yamaha has officially unveiled its new electric scooter, the EC-06, in India, marking a big step for the brand in the growing electric two-wheeler market. The company also showcased another model, the Aerox-E, at the same event. The EC-06 stands out with its tall, sporty stance and sharp body lines, giving it a modern and unique design. Yamaha says the scooter has been developed especially for Indian road conditions and rider preferences.

Yamaha EC-06: Motor, Battery, and Range

The Yamaha EC-06 is powered by a 4.5 kW electric motor that produces up to 8.98 hp of power. It comes with a 4 kWh fixed lithium-ion battery pack, offering a claimed riding range of 160 km on a single full charge. This range makes it ideal for daily commutes as well as longer weekend rides.

Riders can choose from three riding modes that balance power and efficiency depending on road conditions. A reverse mode is also available, making parking or tight maneuvers easy. The battery supports home charging through a regular plug point, taking around nine hours for a full charge.

This combination of range and practicality makes the EC-06 one of the most capable electric scooters in its segment, aiming to reduce range anxiety for everyday users.

Features, Design, and Technology

The Yamaha EC-06 comes equipped with a range of premium features focused on comfort, safety, and connectivity. It gets disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels for better stopping power. The scooter uses full LED lighting, including headlights, taillamps, and indicators, ensuring good visibility and a stylish look.

A colored LCD instrument cluster displays speed, battery level, and riding mode information clearly. Under the seat, the EC-06 offers 24.5 liters of storage space, which is enough to fit a helmet or small bags, a handy feature for city riders.

One of the standout highlights is the digital connectivity system. The EC-06 includes a built-in telematics unit with SIM-based connectivity, allowing riders to track the scooter’s location, check ride statistics, and access real-time data. Yamaha may later introduce smart features such as ride analytics, service reminders, and remote access, showing its commitment to connected vehicle technology.

Launch Timeline and Expected Price

Yamaha plans to begin deliveries of the EC-06 in the first quarter of 2026, with the official price announcement expected around the same time. The electric scooter will be positioned in the premium e-scooter segment, where it will compete directly with the Ather 450X, TVS iQube, Ola S1 Pro, and Bajaj Chetak.

The launch of both the EC-06 and Aerox-E marks Yamaha’s serious entry into India’s electric two-wheeler market. Until now, Yamaha has focused mainly on petrol scooters and motorcycles, but with growing demand for EVs, the brand aims to build a strong electric portfolio for India.
