Yamaha FZ-Rave Launched in India at ₹1.17 Lakh – Price, Features, and Details
Yamaha has launched the new FZ Rave in India at Rs 1,17,218 ex showroom Delhi. The brand expands the FZ family with this variant while also introducing the XSR 155 and two electric scooters, the EC 06 and the Aerox E. The FZ Rave targets riders who want a sporty look with everyday comfort and low running costs. It keeps the familiar FZ stance and adds useful feature updates to stay competitive in the 150 cc space.
Power comes from a 149 cc air cooled single cylinder SOHC engine with fuel injection. The motor is tuned for smooth response and high fuel efficiency in city and highway use. It makes 12.4 PS at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm, paired with a five speed gearbox. The setup supports E20 fuel, which helps future proof the bike for changing fuel standards.
The FZ Rave uses a diamond type frame that balances agility with stability. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and a rear swingarm setup that keeps the ride comfortable on broken roads. Braking comes from hydraulic single disc brakes at both ends with single channel ABS for added safety. The bike runs on tubeless tyres, a 100 80 17 at the front and a wider 140 60 17 at the rear for better grip.
Design aligns with an aggressive street look while keeping a clean finish. The full LED projector headlamp with an integrated position light gives a sharp face and clear night visibility. The sculpted fuel tank with cosmetic vents adds presence without adding bulk. A compact exhaust, a neat tail section, and tidy panels keep the profile simple and modern.
The cockpit uses a digital instrument cluster that shows speed, revs, fuel level, and a clock at a glance. The switchgear is easy to reach and the seat height suits a wide range of riders. The FZ Rave has a 1,330 mm wheelbase and 165 mm ground clearance for practical city use and speed breaker clearance. Kerb weight stands at 136 kg, which should aid quick steering and fuel economy.
Yamaha offers the bike in two colours, Matte Titan and Metallic Black, to match its sporty theme. Fit and finish aim to meet the expectations set by the FZ brand over the years. The overall package focuses on daily usability, reliable performance, and a light, manageable feel in traffic. It stays true to the FZ formula while polishing the details that matter to riders.
Author's Note:
The FZ Rave strengthens Yamaha’s hold in the premium 150 cc commuter plus space by leaning on efficiency, ease of use, and brand trust. While rivals like the TVS Apache RTR 160 and Bajaj Pulsar N160 deliver higher peak figures, Yamaha counters with smooth fuel injection, E20 compatibility, and predictable handling. The projector LED, wider rear tyre, and ABS speak to younger buyers who want style and safety without raising costs. The price point and proven engine should help retention among FZ loyalists, while the parallel launch of the XSR 155 and the two EVs signals a balanced product strategy. It keeps the core petrol lineup fresh and tests electric interest across cities, positioning Yamaha for the next phase of the market.
