Tata Tiago EV Facelift Spotted Testing Ahead of Expected 2026 Launch
Tata Tiago EV Facelift Spotted Testing: What to Expect from the 2026 Update
The Tata Tiago EV has been one of the most popular affordable electric cars in India. Many buyers chose it because it offers practical city driving with low running cost. Now the competition has become stronger after the launch of the Punch EV facelift, which offers more features at a similar price. To keep the Tiago EV competitive, Tata Motors is preparing a major update.
A heavily camouflaged test car was recently spotted testing in the PCMC area near Pune. This confirms that development work is already underway. Tata has not announced an official launch date yet, but industry experts expect the updated Tiago EV to arrive in the second half of 2026 or possibly debut at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Expo.
Cabin Updates and New Technology
Tata Motors is expected to improve the interior experience so that the Tiago EV feels closer to its newer electric SUVs. The cabin will likely use better materials and offer more technology focused features.
A larger 10.25 inch floating touchscreen infotainment system is expected along with a 7 inch fully digital driver display that may include an auto dimming function. Cameras placed under the side mirrors indicate that the facelifted model could offer a 360 degree camera system, which will make parking easier in tight city spaces.
The updated model may also receive Tata’s newer two spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. Additional comfort features could include wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, a centre armrest, and connected car technology that allows vehicle monitoring through a smartphone app.
Updated Design with a More Modern Look
Even though the test vehicle was fully covered, several design changes were clearly visible. The new Tata Tiago EV facelift will follow Tata’s latest design style seen on newer electric models.
The car is expected to receive redesigned LED headlights along with slim daytime running lights placed at the top. The turn indicators appear to be moved toward the outer edges instead of sitting near the grille. Both the front and rear bumpers look newly shaped which gives the hatchback a cleaner and more modern appearance.
The test model was also seen with new alloy wheels that appear aerodynamically designed to improve efficiency. These wheels may be similar to the aero style units used on the Nexon EV.
One important detail noticed during testing was a small raised section on the roof. This strongly suggests that the Tiago EV facelift may finally offer a single pane sunroof, which could make it the first electric hatchback in this segment to get this feature.
Expected Improvements in Range and Charging
The biggest upgrade may come from changes to the battery technology. Tata Motors is expected to move from cylindrical battery cells to prismatic cells. These newer battery cells can store more energy within the same space which may improve driving range without increasing vehicle size.
Below is the current Tiago EV range reference:
| Battery Pack | MIDC Range | Real World Range (C75) |
|---|---|---|
| 19.2 kWh | 223 km | 168 km |
| 24 kWh | 293 km | 205 km |
