VW Taigun Facelift Leaked: New Design, Interior Updates, Launch in May 2026

VW Taigun facelift leaked with new design, digital cluster, rear seat massage and new 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Introduction

A new spy video has revealed the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun facelift during testing. The SUV was seen with very little camouflage, which clearly shows many design changes. Volkswagen is expected to officially reveal the updated Taigun in April 2026, and sales could start in May 2026.

The facelifted Taigun gets a fresh exterior design, interior upgrades, and a small transmission update. The new styling takes inspiration from the latest third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan that debuted in 2023. The front design also looks similar to the Volkswagen Tharu XR sold in China.

Interior and Technology Upgrades

Inside the cabin, Volkswagen has introduced several updates to improve technology and comfort.

The dashboard now features a new layout, along with redesigned central air-conditioning vents. The SUV will also get a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. In the center of the dashboard, Volkswagen will offer an updated 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with improved connectivity.

Another interesting update is the rear seat massage function for the outer passengers. This feature helps reduce fatigue during long drives and adds extra comfort for passengers.

New Front Design

Volkswagen has made several changes to the front section of the Taigun. The SUV now gets slimmer and sharper headlamps, which give it a more modern and aggressive look. The front grille is smaller than before, and LED light strips run along the upper edge of the grille and connect to the Volkswagen logo in the center.

Another noticeable change is the illuminated VW logo, which adds a premium touch to the front design.

Volkswagen has also completely redesigned the front bumper. The smaller upper grille creates more body space on the bumper, while the lower section now features a large air intake grille. This new layout makes the SUV look wider and more powerful.

Updated Rear Styling

The rear of the Taigun also gets a few visual updates, it has slightly reworked the connected tail lamps, giving them a fresh appearance.

The company has also added a new rear bumper with vertical reflectors. A wider faux skid plate sits at the bottom of the bumper, which gives the SUV a more rugged look.

Engine Options Remain the Same

Volkswagen will continue offering the same engine options in the facelifted Taigun. Buyers will still get the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine and the 1.5-litre TSI Evo petrol engine.

However, the company plans to make a small change to the automatic gearbox. The 1.0-litre engine is expected to receive a new 8-speed automatic transmission, replacing the current 6-speed automatic unit. This upgrade should provide smoother gear shifts and slightly better fuel efficiency.

New Alloy Wheels

The facelifted model will likely come with new 17-inch alloy wheel designs. These wheels match the updated styling and help give the SUV a more modern appearance on the road.

Launch Timeline

Volkswagen is expected to officially reveal the new Taigun facelift in April 2026. The company will likely start sales in India in May 2026, so customers may soon see the updated SUV in showrooms.

The facelift brings modern styling, improved interior technology, and better comfort features, which should help the Taigun remain competitive in the popular compact SUV segment in India.
