New Tata Punch EV Gets BaaS Plan, Lifetime Battery Warranty & Dual Loan Scheme

Here we have explained the Tata Punch EV's BaaS, lifetime battery warranty, and dual loan scheme.

Tata Motors has introduced an updated version of the Punch EV, focusing on making it more affordable, improving long-term reliability, and adding advanced technology. A major highlight is the Battery-as-a-Service plan, which separates the battery cost from the car’s purchase price. This approach lowers the starting price to Rs. 6.49 lakh, while users pay a distance-based fee of Rs. 2.6 per kilometer for battery usage instead of buying it upfront.

Pricing and Battery Options

The Tata Punch EV is offered with two battery configurations to suit different needs.

  • The smaller 30 kWh unit delivers a claimed range of 265 km.
  • The larger 40 kWh pack offers up to 468 km under ARAI testing and around 355 km in real-world driving conditions.
The pricing spans across multiple variants. Models with the 30 kWh battery are priced between Rs. 9.69 lakh and Rs. 10.29 lakh, while the 40 kWh versions start at Rs. 10.89 lakh and go up to Rs. 12.59 lakh for the top-end trim.

Performance and Capability

Performance remains a strong point for the Punch EV. The electric motor produces 130 PS of power, enabling 0 to 100 kmph acceleration in under nine seconds. Wheel torque exceeds 2000 Nm, while restart gradeability is rated at 32 percent.

The vehicle also offers 195 mm ground clearance and a water-wading capability of 450 mm, making it suitable for varied driving conditions. The kerb weight stands at 1360 kg.

Fast Charging and Ownership Benefits

Both battery options support fast charging as well as standard AC charging. Using a 65 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in about 26 minutes, while a quick 15-minute charge can add close to 135 km of range.

To make EV ownership easier, Tata Motors offers a two-part loan structure that separates vehicle and battery costs. Buyers opting for the larger battery also get a high-voltage battery guarantee of up to 15 years with unlimited kilometers for the first owner. This includes battery replacement if capacity drops below 70%.

Advanced Engineering

A newly developed X-in-1 electric drive module debuts in this model. It combines six components into a single unit, reducing size by about 50%, lowering weight by 28%, and improving efficiency by nearly 6%.

This system also cuts electrical connections by around 30% and reduces semiconductor usage by close to 40%. An advanced thermal management system with eTXV technology helps maintain optimal battery and cabin temperatures.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Punch EV gets major upgrades in technology and comfort. It features a 26.03 cm Harman infotainment system paired with a fully digital instrument cluster.
