Hyundai Brings 4 New Locally Made Cars To India By 2027

Hyundai plans 4 new locally-made cars by 2027: Exter facelift, Bayon, HE1i electric SUV, and next-gen Creta

South Korean Automaker Hyundai has an aggressive product plan for the Indian market. The company is preparing to launch 26 new models between FY2026 and FY2030. After introducing the second-generation Venue at the end of last year, Hyundai also launched the updated Verna earlier this month. Over the next year, the brand is expected to bring four more locally built models to India.

1. Hyundai Exter To Receive Mid-Cycle Update

The Hyundai Exter will complete three years in the market in July 2026. Around the same time, Hyundai is likely to introduce a mid-life facelift for the micro SUV.

The Exter has faced strong competition from the Tata Punch, which currently leads the segment. With this update, Hyundai may try to improve the SUV’s design, features, and overall appeal.

Exterior Changes For Exter

The facelifted Exter could come with small design updates. The front grille may get a new pattern, while the split headlamp setup could receive updated lighting graphics.

Other changes may include newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels and revised front and rear bumpers, giving the micro SUV a fresher appearance.

Interior Upgrades For Exter

Inside the cabin, Hyundai may introduce a few new comfort features. The facelifted model could get ventilated front seats, which are currently not available.

A new infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without using a dongle may also be added. Hyundai could also include a rear USB Type-C charging port for passengers.

However, the engine and gearbox options are expected to remain unchanged.

2. Second-Generation Hyundai Bayon Coming Soon

The Hyundai Bayon currently serves as a Venue-sized SUV for European markets. The upcoming second-generation version will be designed for a wider range of regions, including Asia and Latin America.

In India, the new Bayon (internal code BC4i) is expected to be placed above the next-generation Venue. Hyundai will likely position it as a more stylish and feature-rich compact SUV.

Bayon Engine And Performance

The new Bayon may introduce Hyundai’s new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This powertrain could become one of the most powerful options in the segment.

In addition, Hyundai may also offer the familiar 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine as another option. The launch of the new Bayon in India is expected around September 2026.

3. Hyundai HE1i Electric Micro SUV

Hyundai is also working on a new electric micro SUV, internally known as HE1i. This model is expected to arrive in early 2027 and will compete with vehicles like the Tata Punch EV.

The upcoming EV will likely have a boxy design and could be slightly larger and taller than the Exter. Spy photos suggest the SUV will feature split headlamps and slim rear lights with pixel-style graphics. Other visible elements include raised roof rails and flush-type door handles.

HE1i Interior Features

Inside the cabin, Hyundai may offer a modern and technology-focused interior. The EV could feature a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster along with a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in.

Other expected features include ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and an electric sunroof, which will help improve comfort and convenience.

4. Next-Generation Hyundai Creta Expected In 2027

Hyundai is also preparing the third-generation Creta, which is expected to arrive in 2027, likely during the third quarter of the year.

The new model will probably be larger and more spacious than the current Creta. It is expected to be based on Hyundai’s new K3 platform, which should improve structural strength and driving refinement.

Creta Design And Dimensions

The next-generation Creta is expected to look more bold and modern. It may feature bigger dimensions and a completely new design inspired by the Hyundai Crater concept.

Larger 19-inch alloy wheels and a more muscular body shape could also give the SUV a stronger road presence compared to the current model.

Creta Interior And Features

Inside the cabin, the next-gen Creta may offer the same 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.9-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in that are expected in the HE1i EV.

Hyundai may also introduce a powered tailgate along with other premium features in the new model.

Hyundai’s upcoming locally manufactured models are expected to arrive in India according to this timeline:

• Hyundai Exter facelift – July 2026

• Hyundai Bayon – September 2026

• Hyundai HE1i electric SUV – Q1 2027

• Next-generation Hyundai Creta – Q3 2027
