Mercedes-Benz VLE Electric MPV Revealed With 700 km Range and 8 Seats

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the VLE, a new all-electric luxury people mover designed to combine limousine-level comfort with the practicality of a spacious MPV. The VLE uses Mercedes-Benz’s new van-based electric platform and the company designed it mainly for large families and premium shuttle services. The company says the VLE offers the same comfort and quality people expect from its luxury sedans.

Interior Design and Comfort

The interior of the VLE focuses on luxury and comfort. The car has a large Sky View panoramic glass roof that brings more natural light into the cabin. Ambient lighting runs through all three rows of seats and creates a relaxing atmosphere. Mercedes designed the seating layout to feel like a lounge so passengers can sit comfortably during long journeys. Depending on the seat setup, the cabin can work as a family vehicle or a premium executive shuttle.

Seating and Interior Flexibility

The VLE focuses on passenger comfort and flexible seating instead of the usual MPV layout. The vehicle can have up to eight seats across three rows, and owners can change the seating arrangement depending on their needs. Owners can prioritize passenger space or increase luggage capacity. The idea is to give customers the space of a van while still keeping the feel of a luxury limousine.

Technology and Entertainment

The VLE runs on Mercedes-Benz’s new operating system called MB.OS, which controls the entertainment system and driver assistance features. This system works together with the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) to create a connected digital environment inside the car.

One of the main highlights is a 31.3-inch retractable panoramic screen for rear passengers. People in the back can use this display to stream movies, play games, or even join video meetings, which allows passengers to watch content or attend calls during the journey.

Battery and Charging

Mercedes equips the VLE with a 115 kWh battery pack that works with an 800-volt electrical system, which helps with faster charging and better efficiency. Mercedes says the VLE can travel more than 700 kilometers on a full charge based on WLTP testing. With fast charging, the battery can add around 355 kilometers of range in about 15 minutes, which helps drivers quickly continue their trip during long journeys.

Electric Motor Options

Mercedes will offer the VLE with different electric motor options. The most powerful version produces up to 409 horsepower and comes with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, which sends power to all four wheels and helps improve traction and stability.

Suspension and Handling

Mercedes focuses strongly on ride comfort in the VLE. The vehicle comes with AIRMATIC air suspension, which automatically adjusts the suspension to keep the ride smooth. The VLE also has rear-axle steering, which helps the large vehicle turn more easily in tight spaces like city streets and parking areas.
