Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Phantom by Cooperb: Off-Road Upgrades and Features
Cooperb Motorcycles creates Phantom upgrade for Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 with suspension, exhaust, and fuel tank upgrades
Introduction
A company in the UK called Cooperb Motorcycles has made a more powerful version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 adventure bike, called the Phantom. It comes with many aftermarket parts that make the bike stronger and better for off-road riding, showing how the Himalayan 450 can be modified to handle tougher trails and rough terrain.
Engine and Performance Upgrades
The Phantom still uses the same 452cc Sherpa single-cylinder engine from the regular Himalayan 450, but Cooperb has added a few upgrades to improve how the engine works.
- HP Corse Exhaust System: This exhaust helps the engine breathe better and improves performance.
- DNA Intake Kit: This intake works with the exhaust and helps the engine get more air.
- FuelX Pro Plus Controller: This device lets riders adjust the air-fuel mixture using preset modes without needing special tuning tools.
Suspension Improvements
The major changes on the Phantom are in the suspension, with a few upgrade options available.
Rear Suspension Options
- Hagon Rear Shocks: These shocks come with adjustable preload and compression damping.
- K-Tech Rear Shocks: These also have adjustable preload and compression damping, along with rebound adjustment so riders can set the suspension based on terrain and riding style.
Front Suspension Upgrade
- K-Tech ProValve Kit: This upgrade keeps the original forks but improves the internal parts for better damping control and more adjustment options, helping the bike stay stable on rough off-road terrain.
Fuel Tank and Seat
The regular Himalayan 450 comes with a 17-litre fuel tank, but the Phantom uses a bigger 23-litre Acerbis fuel tank, which allows riders to travel longer distances without refueling.
The bike also gets Royal Enfield’s Rally seat, which raises the seat height by about 20 mm and gives riders a slightly better riding position.
Wheel and Tyre Options
Buyers can choose different wheel options depending on how they plan to ride.
- Factory Spoked Wheels: These are the standard tubeless spoked wheels from the normal Himalayan 450.
- SM Pro Lightweight Rims: These rims are lighter and stronger, making them better for serious off-road riding.
- 18-Inch Rear Wheel Option: This wheel size makes it easier to use aggressive off-road tyres designed for sand and dirt.
Real-World Performance
The Phantom has already been used in real racing events, and one of these bikes won the Big Bike Single category at the Valleys X-Treme Lite off-road race in Wales, showing that the upgrades also work well in tough riding conditions.
Pricing
The Phantom conversion package starts at around £10,299 (about Rs 12.73 lakh), while fully upgraded builds can cost close to £12,000 (about Rs 14.84 lakh), depending on the upgrades chosen by the customer.
