Royal Enfield Continental GT-R 750 spotted testing near Chennai. Spy shots reveal café racer design, twin front discs and new 750cc engine.
Royal Enfield is currently working on a bigger and more powerful motorcycle called the Continental GT-R 750. This new bike was recently seen being tested on the roads of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. What makes this sighting special is that the bike did not have any covers or camouflage on it. It was spotted very close to the company’s own factory in a way that suggests it is getting very close to being finished and ready for the market.
We first saw a racing version of this bike at the EICMA show in 2025, and it was also shown at the Motoverse event in Goa later that same year. But those were special racing models that were not meant for the general public to buy. This new sighting shows a bike that looks like it is finally meant for regular people to ride on the street. It has an all-black color and looks very similar to the smaller Continental GT 650 that many people already know and love.
Design and New Features
The new 750cc bike has some very clear design parts that make it a "cafe-racer," such as the two exhaust pipes that point upwards and the footpegs that are set further back. These parts give the rider a more sporty position while they are riding on the road. It also has clip-on handlebars which mean the rider will sit in a more aggressive way. There is a small hump at the back of the seat which is a classic look for these kinds of bikes.
One big change is in the suspension because the front of the bike has telescopic forks with small adjusters on the top. These adjusters will let riders change how the front feels when they go over bumps or rough roads. At the back, this specific test bike had simple shock absorbers instead of the gas-charged ones seen on earlier versions. This might mean Royal Enfield is testing different versions of the bike for different prices. Better Braking and Wheels
For the first time ever, a Royal Enfield bike will have two disc brakes at the front. This is a big deal because it helps the bike stop much faster and more safely than the older models. Even though the discs look a bit smaller than the ones on the 650cc bikes, having two of them will make the braking much stronger and more reliable for the rider.
The bike also has 17-inch alloy wheels that look like they could be the same ones used on the GT 650 model. The tires are expected to be tubeless ones from a brand called Verdestein. Inside the cockpit, the old style of having two round meters might be gone because there could be a single round screen that is a modern TFT display. This screen would show navigation and other smart information, and it would work just like the screens on the new Himalayan and Guerrilla bikes.
Engine and Power
The heart of this motorcycle is a new 750cc engine that has two cylinders and uses air and oil to stay cool. This engine is based on the 650cc engine that Royal Enfield already makes for its other bikes. The current 650cc engine produces about 47 horsepower, but this new 750cc one will be stronger. Experts believe it will produce between 50 and 55 horsepower when it is finally launched.
Even when this new 750cc bike comes out, Royal Enfield will still keep selling the 650cc version because it gives buyers more choices and different price points. We expect the official launch of the Continental GT 750 to happen sometime near the end of 2026. The price is expected to be around 4 lakh rupees at the showroom for the Indian market.
