TVS Orbiter V1 Launched at Rs 49,999 With BaaS Model, Offers 86 km Range

TVS launches Orbiter V1 electric scooter at Rs 49,999 under BaaS model with 86 km range and modern features.

TVS Motor Company has launched a new electric scooter, the Orbiter V1, priced at Rs. 49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi) under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model. This is the most affordable model in the TVS electric scooter lineup. This new pricing model makes it accessible to many people who want to switch from a petrol scooter to an electric scooter. If you want to own the scooter outright without any subscription, you can buy it for a price of Rs. 84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).

What is Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)?

Battery-as-a-Service is a new approach that TVS has introduced for buying an electric scooter. In this model, you do not have to pay the entire price of the scooter at once. You can buy the scooter at a lower price and then take a monthly subscription plan for the battery.

This reduces the initial investment required to purchase the scooter. You also get the option to choose a plan that suits your needs.

These subscription plans start at Rs. 862 per month. Depending on the plan you choose, you also get a warranty of up to 5 years or 70,000 km.

The BaaS model is designed especially for first-time electric scooter buyers. The cost can be spread over monthly payments instead of paying a large amount upfront, which makes it more accessible even for those on a tight budget.

Orbiter Range Variants

The V1 comes with a 1.8 kWh battery and serves as the entry-level option in the lineup. The V2 variant, on the other hand, gets a larger 3.1 kWh battery that delivers a higher riding range.

Because of its lower price, the V1 is a suitable choice for buyers purchasing an electric scooter for the first time. Riders who mainly need the scooter for short daily trips may find the V1 more practical.

However, those who prefer a longer range and are willing to spend a bit more can consider the V2 variant.

Orbiter V1 Specifications

The Orbiter V1 scooter has a 1.8 kWh battery pack it will give an IDC-certified range of up to 86 km on a single full charge. This range is sufficient for daily city commuting.

The battery also charges quickly and it can charges up to 80% in about 2 hours and 20 minutes, so charging the scooter in the afternoon or evening is enough for use the next day.

The scooter has an 845 mm flat seat, which makes it comfortable to sit on. The 290 mm footboard also provides good legroom.

The handlebar is designed to be upright, which makes it comfortable to ride, especially when traveling short distances, and helps reduce fatigue.

The scooter has 34 liters of under-seat storage which is enough space to store two helmets, making it very useful for daily use.
