Nissan Reveals Tekton SUV Front Design Before July 9 Debut
Nissan teases the new Tekton SUV ahead of its global debut on July 9, 2026. It will sit above the Magnite.
Nissan has revealed the front design of its upcoming Tekton SUV through a new teaser image. The Tekton will sit above the Magnite and is expected to become Nissan's main SUV in the Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh segment. The SUV will make its global debut on July 9, 2026, before going on sale in India. The launch is part of Nissan's plan to introduce several new models in India over the next two years.
Tough Front-End Design
The teaser image shows an upright front design with large "Tekton" lettering across the edge of the bonnet. A round Nissan badge sits at the centre of a wide grille that features horizontal elements and a red accent strip running across the front. The overall design gives the SUV a tougher appearance than the Magnite.
One of the most noticeable details is the lighting setup. The Tekton gets rectangular LED headlamps on either side of the grille, along with vertically positioned daytime running lights near the outer edges.
The bonnet features a raised centre section with a scoop-like design, giving the front a more muscular look. The bumper also appears to have squared-off sections, although some details are hidden in the dark teaser image. Roof rails, large side mirrors, and a tall windscreen can also be seen.
Engine Options Expected
The Tekton will be based on the same platform as the latest Renault Duster and has been heavily localised for the Indian market.
Nissan has not officially revealed the engine options yet. However, the SUV is expected to share its powertrains with the new Duster. The Tekton is also expected to serve as the spiritual successor to the Terrano.
Expected options include:
- 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine
- 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 160 hp
- Manual and automatic transmission choices
- Hybrid technology could also be offered
Features and Safety
The Tekton is expected to come with a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, and connected car technology.
Safety features could include:
- Six airbags
- 360-degree camera
- Parking sensors
- ADAS features on higher variants
Rivals
The Nissan Tekton will compete against:
- Hyundai Creta
- Kia Seltos
- Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
- Toyota Hyryder
- Honda Elevate
- Skoda Kushaq
- Volkswagen Taigun
- MG Astor
The Tekton marks Nissan's return to the midsize SUV segment, where the company has not had a strong presence for several years. More details about the SUV will be revealed when it makes its global debut on July 9, 2026.
