Hyundai Creta EV Gets BaaS Option, Price Starts At Rs 10.99 Lakh

Hyundai Introduces BaaS Subscription Plan For Creta EV, Prices Start At Rs 10.99 Lakh

Hyundai has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription programme for the Creta EV in India, bringing down the upfront ex-showroom price of the electric SUV to Rs 10.99 lakh. Under this model, customers pay a separate battery subscription charge of Rs 3.9 per kilometre instead of paying for the battery as part of the vehicle's purchase price.

Lower Upfront Price For EV Buyers

The new BaaS programme reduces the initial purchase cost of the Creta EV by separating the battery from the vehicle price. Hyundai believes this will make the electric SUV more accessible to buyers who are hesitant about the higher upfront cost of EVs. Hyundai has also introduced an integrated side foot step, making it easier for occupants to get in and out of the SUV.

Home Charger Variants Get A New Wall Box Option

Hyundai has also updated the Home Charger (HC) variants of the Creta EV, which now come with a 7.4 kW wall box charger. The company says the change has been introduced following customer feedback. Apart from these updates, the electric SUV remains unchanged in terms of design, features and battery specifications. It continues to be offered with both long-range and standard-range battery pack options.

What Hyundai Says

Speaking about the new BaaS programme, Tarun Garg, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said the company wants to make electric mobility more accessible by reducing the upfront purchase cost and offering flexible battery subscription options. He added that the initiative is aimed at encouraging more customers to consider EV ownership while continuing to benefit from Hyundai's technology and safety standards.

Price Comparison

Without the BaaS programme, the Hyundai Creta EV is priced between Rs 18.03 lakh and Rs 24.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), depending on the variant. With the subscription model, the starting price drops by more than Rs 7 lakh, although the exact saving varies across the range.

Features And Charging Capability

The Creta EV continues to offer Hyundai's SmartSense Level 2 ADAS suite, Vehicle-to-Load technology, Digital Key, Single Pedal Drive and Active Air Flaps. The SUV supports DC fast charging and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 39 minutes.

It is available with 51.4 kWh and 42 kWh battery packs, with Hyundai claiming an ARAI-certified range of up to 510 km for the larger battery.

Warranty And Charging Infrastructure Plans

Hyundai offers an eight-year or 1,60,000 km battery warranty, whichever comes first, on the Creta EV. The company has also outlined plans to install nearly 600 public DC fast chargers across India over the next seven years. At present, Hyundai operates 214 DC chargers and 399 charging points across 183 locations. The myHyundai app also includes an integrated EV Charge feature, allowing owners to locate and access more than 10,000 charging points across the country.
