JSW MG Motor Records Highest-Ever Monthly Sales In India With 7,568 Units
JSW MG Motor India achieved a record June wholesale of 7,568 units. More than 75% of sales came from electric vehicles
JSW MG Motor India has set a new monthly wholesale record with 7,568 units in June 2026. The figure marks a 30 percent year-on-year increase over the same month last year and was driven by strong demand for both the brand's electric and ICE models. It is the highest monthly wholesale number the company has posted in India so far.
Electric Vehicles Drive Most Of The Volume
Out of the 7,568 units dispatched in June, more than 5,600 were electric vehicles. That means EVs accounted for over 75 percent of the brand's total wholesale volumes during the month. The Windsor EV, Comet EV and ZS EV led the brand's EV sales during the month.
JSW MG Motor said several factors helped drive demand for electric cars during the month. Lower running costs of EVs, rising fuel prices and uncertainty in West Asia were cited by the company as reasons behind the increased demand for its electric models.
MG Majestor Deliveries Begin
June 2026 also saw the start of customer deliveries for the recently launched MG Majestor, a more premium version of the Gloster that now sits at the top of the brand's SUV lineup in India.
The Majestor runs a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 216 PS and 479 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is offered on the top-spec variant.
On the outside, the Majestor gets a revised look compared to the Gloster. Changes include a larger grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, connected LED tail lamps, redesigned bumpers and 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin carries dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control and a 12-speaker JBL audio system.
The feature list covers Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake and multiple drive modes.
A Wider Product Portfolio Now In Place
The June performance also reflects JSW MG Motor's broader strategy of expanding its presence across multiple segments. The company's current lineup spans compact EVs, midsize electric SUVs, ICE SUVs and the newly added premium Majestor. This wider portfolio gives the brand a presence across different price points and buyer segments, which has helped it grow volumes steadily.
What Comes Next
The 7,568-unit figure in June 2026 is now the brand's new monthly benchmark in India. Two key factors to watch over the coming months are how much the Majestor contributes to monthly retail sales and whether MG can maintain an EV share of more than 75 percent through the second half of the year.
What The Numbers Reveal
The 7,568-unit figure is a wholesale number, which means these vehicles were dispatched from MG's factory to dealerships, not delivered to customers. Retail registrations, which are tracked through the Vahan portal, will give a better idea of how many of these vehicles actually reached buyers. A strong wholesale number often points to healthy dealer demand, but it can also indicate that dealerships are stocking up in anticipation of higher retail sales.
More than 5,600 of MG's June wholesales came from electric vehicles, and the Windsor EV is likely to have contributed the biggest share. The model averaged around 4,000 units per month during 2025, finished the year as India's best-selling electric car with 46,735 units, and has consistently accounted for around 57 to 63 percent of MG's total wholesales since its launch. The Comet EV and ZS EV account for most of the remaining EV sales.
The 75 percent EV share also stands out when compared with other mainstream carmakers in India. Tata Motors, the country's EV market leader, still gets only around 15 to 20 percent of its passenger vehicle sales from electric models, while Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have even smaller EV shares. That makes MG far more dependent on electric vehicles than its rivals. As long as EV demand remains strong, this works in the company's favour. However, if competition intensifies or market conditions change, MG could feel the impact more than brands with a more balanced sales mix.
