TVS Apache Hits 70 Lakh Global Sales Milestone In Two Decades
TVS Apache Series Reaches 70 Lakh Global Sales, Brand Launches 'Tu Race Laga' Campaign
TVS Motor Company has announced that its Apache motorcycle range has crossed the 70 lakh unit sales mark globally. The milestone comes a little over two decades since the Apache first went on sale in 2005. To mark the occasion, TVS has also launched a new brand campaign called 'Tu Race Laga', which celebrates the Apache's journey from its origins as a single model to a full range of performance motorcycles sold across the world.
From One Motorcycle To A Global Range
The Apache lineup is currently available in 90 countries and has grown to cover three distinct motorcycle categories: street and naked bikes, supersport and adventure touring. Engine displacements within the range run from 160cc at the entry point to 310cc at the top.
The Apache's foundation was built on what TVS calls its Track to Road philosophy, which involves taking engineering knowledge and technology from the company's motorsport programme and applying it directly to production motorcycles. This approach has guided the Apache range through its entire 20-year lifespan.
Segment Technologies Over The Years
TVS says the Apache series has introduced several technologies to their respective segments over the years. These include roto-petal disc brakes, fuel injection, dual-channel ABS, multiple ride modes, TVS SmartXonnect, Glide Through Technology, a Built-To-Order factory customisation programme, a keyless ride system, traction control and dynamic stability systems. These additions have been rolled out progressively across the Apache range over its two decades in the market.
A Community Of Over Five Lakh Riders
Beyond sales figures, TVS has built a riding community around the Apache name that now counts more than five lakh registered members. These members take part in organised rides, track sessions and brand-led activities. TVS says these events have helped the company build stronger connections with Apache owners beyond the point of purchase.
The Campaign Film And What TVS Said
To celebrate the 70 lakh milestone, TVS has released the 'Tu Race Laga' campaign film, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Ram Madhvani. The film draws from the Apache's Track to Road philosophy and focuses on the emotions around riding, racing and everyday motorcycling.
Vimal Sumbly, Head of Business for the Premium segment at TVS Motor Company, said at the announcement that twenty years ago, the Apache was built with a single goal of bringing the excitement, control and race-bred capability of the track to everyday riders through the Track to Road philosophy. He added that the company is proud to see the Apache grow into one of the world's fastest-growing premium motorcycle brands and a community brought together by a shared passion for riding.
Current Apache Lineup
The Apache family today spans three categories. The street and naked segment covers the RTR 160, RTR 160 4V, RTR 180, RTR 200 4V and RTR 310. The RR 310 represents the supersport end of the range. The recently introduced RTX serves as the brand's adventure tourer, rounding out the portfolio across different riding styles and use cases.
What The Milestone Signals For The Apache Brand
The 70 lakh sales milestone comes at an interesting time for the Apache brand. While TVS is celebrating two decades of success, industry reports suggest the company is also preparing to expand the lineup with a larger-capacity Apache RR 450. TVS has not officially confirmed the motorcycle or its launch timeline, but if it arrives, it would sit above the current RR 310 and give the brand a stronger presence in the premium performance motorcycle segment.
The milestone also reflects how the Apache range has evolved over the years. One of the biggest reasons for its growing credibility has been TVS' long-running partnership with BMW Motorrad. The Apache RR 310 uses an engine platform co-developed with BMW, while both the Apache RR 310 and the BMW G 310 RR are manufactured at TVS' Hosur plant. That collaboration has allowed TVS to bring globally developed engineering to its flagship motorcycles. Industry reports indicate the two companies are also working together on a new 450cc platform, although neither TVS nor BMW has officially announced production or launch details.
