2026 Renault Kwid Launched At Rs 4.52 Lakh With Two Variants

Renault Kwid 2026 Update Launched: Starts At Rs 4.52 Lakh, Now Available In Just Two Variants

The Renault Kwid has been part of India's entry-level car market since 2015, with cumulative sales crossing 4.5 lakh units. Renault India has now rolled out the 2026 update with a new look, a simplified variant lineup and revised pricing. The updated Kwid is priced between Rs 4.52 lakh and Rs 5.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers who purchase the Climber variant through Renault's online channel also get a Rs 15,000 cash benefit, bringing its effective price down to Rs 4.99 lakh.

Two Variants Instead Of Many

Perhaps the most practical change Renault has made is reducing the lineup to just two variants, Evolution and Climber. The earlier multi-variant range has been replaced by this simpler setup, making it easier for first-time buyers to choose without comparing multiple trims.

The Evolution is the standard offering, while the Climber sits above it with additional styling elements that give it a more rugged appearance. Both variants are available with manual and AMT gearbox options.

Prices Across The Range

Variant Price (Ex-Showroom)
Evolution MT Rs 4.52 lakh
Evolution AMT Rs 4.89 lakh
Climber MT Rs 5.14 lakh
Climber AMT Rs 5.60 lakh

Renault's New Logo Makes Its Way To The Kwid

The 2026 Kwid is one of the first Renault models in India to wear the company's new logo. The hatchback retains its familiar SUV-inspired proportions and upright stance, while the refreshed logo gives it a subtle visual update.

What Separates The Climber From The Evolution

Both variants share the same mechanical package and feature list, but the Climber adds its own identity. It gets exclusive exterior styling, wheel-arch cladding and rugged cosmetic touches. Inside, the dual-tone cabin gives it a sportier feel than the Evolution.

Engine And Gearbox

Under the bonnet, the 2026 Kwid continues with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 69 bhp and 91 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual gearbox and Renault's Easy-R five-speed AMT automatic. The AMT variants also feature a rotary gear selector.

The feature list remains unchanged and is competitive for the segment. The Kwid comes with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Practicality Numbers Hold Up

With 184 mm of ground clearance and a 279-litre boot, the Kwid continues to offer one of the more practical packages in the entry-level hatchback segment.

Safety Equipment

The 2026 Kwid comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and seat belt reminders as standard. Renault also offers 17 standard safety features across both Evolution and Climber variants.

Renault says the refreshed Kwid remains focused on first-time buyers, with the simplified two-variant lineup and digital purchase platform aimed at making the buying process more convenient.

A Timely Refresh For The Kwid

The Kwid has been on sale in India for more than a decade and has crossed 4.5 lakh sales overall, but its recent numbers have been much lower. Renault sold 369 units in December 2025, according to industry sales data, showing how competitive the entry-level hatchback segment has become. Against that backdrop, simplifying the lineup and revising prices looks like an effort to make the Kwid easier to buy and more competitive.

The pricing changes are also worth looking at closely. The starting price has gone up because Renault has dropped the earlier Authentic variant. However, the Evolution and Climber variants are actually cheaper than the versions they replace. So while the entry price is higher, buyers looking at these trims could end up paying less than before.

One other point buyers may want to check is smartphone connectivity. Renault says the Kwid supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but some early reports mention wired connectivity instead of wireless. It's worth confirming this with the dealership before booking if wireless connectivity is important to you.
