New Suzuki XL7 Facelift Teased Ahead Of July 29 Debut

Suzuki XL7 Facelift Officially Teased Ahead Of July 29 Indonesia Debut, XL6 India Update Likely To Follow

Suzuki has shared the first official image of the updated XL7 ahead of its global reveal at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on July 29. The MPV will debut with a refreshed design, and since the Indian XL6 is closely related to the Indonesian XL7, many of these updates could eventually make their way to the XL6 as well. However, Maruti Suzuki has not officially confirmed any plans for the Indian model.

What The Facelift Changes On The Outside

The front end receives the biggest visual update. The XL7 gets a redesigned chrome grille with black inserts, revised headlamps and a newly designed front bumper with updated fog lamp housings. Along the sides, it rides on a new set of alloy wheels, while smoked LED tail lamps at the rear give the MPV a fresher appearance.

Cabin Updates Still Expected, Not Confirmed

The cabin isn't expected to change dramatically. However, Suzuki could expand the feature list with additions such as front ventilated seats, an upgraded 360-degree camera, an improved head-up display and a larger infotainment touchscreen with enhanced connected car functions. These features are based on expectations ahead of the launch and have not been officially confirmed.

Engine And Transmission Likely To Stay The Same

No mechanical changes are expected for the facelifted XL7. The MPV is likely to continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated K15C four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 103 bhp and 136 Nm of torque. Transmission choices are also expected to remain unchanged, with a five-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic. A factory-fitted CNG version is also expected to remain part of the lineup.

Underfloor CNG Tank Could Be A Practical Upgrade

One notable update that could arrive with the CNG variant is an underfloor CNG tank layout. This setup first appeared on the Victoris and is also expected on the upcoming Brezza facelift. If Maruti Suzuki adopts the same arrangement for the XL6, it would free up much more boot space than the current layout, making the MPV even more practical for family use.

Where The XL6 Stands In India

In India, the XL6 sits between mainstream MPVs and more premium family vehicles. Its rivals include the Kia Carens Clavis, Toyota Rumion and higher variants of the Maruti Ertiga. With the Carens Clavis recently receiving more features, an updated XL6 would help Maruti Suzuki remain competitive in this segment. However, the company has not announced an official launch timeline yet.

A Practical CNG Upgrade

While the design changes are the first things people will notice, the biggest improvement for Indian buyers could be something that isn't visible at all. Reports suggest the updated XL6 could adopt an underfloor CNG tank, and that has the potential to make a real difference in day-to-day use.

The current XL6 CNG stores its cylinder inside the boot, which reduces luggage space. For families travelling with all three rows in use, that leaves less room for bags and larger items. An underfloor tank layout, like the one seen on the Victoris, would free up much of that space while still offering the lower running costs that attract CNG buyers in the first place.

This could also give Maruti Suzuki an advantage over some of its rivals. The Kia Carens Clavis, for example, is not available with a factory-fitted CNG option. If the refreshed XL6 arrives with an underfloor CNG tank, it could become a more practical choice for buyers who want both lower fuel costs and usable luggage space without having to make the usual compromises associated with CNG vehicles.

Of course, Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed whether this upgrade will be part of the India-spec XL6. But if it does make its way here, it could prove to be one of the most useful changes in the facelift, even if it attracts far less attention than the updated styling.
