2026 Tata Punch EV Facelift Revealed: Launching February 20 with Fresh Looks and Tech

Tata Motors has pulled the curtain back on the 2026 Punch EV facelift, giving us a good look before its official launch on February 20. This all electric version of the popular micro SUV comes with noticeable changes on the outside and some smart upgrades inside. It keeps the same reliable electric powertrains that buyers already know.

While the current Punch EV in India is sold between Rs. 9.99 lakh and Rs. 14.44 lakh ex showroom, the new 2026 facelift model is expected to have a higher price. This comes after Tata Motors introduced the petrol powered 2026 Punch ICE last month, which starts from Rs. 5.59 lakh ex showroom.

Sharp Exterior Design

The 2026 Punch EV facelift shows some important updates on the outside. It now has a sleek and closed off front grille that gives it a more modern and electric vehicle look. The black strip that was used to connect the headlamps is gone, making the front look cleaner. You can also notice a restyled scuff plate below the front bumper. The alloy wheels get a completely new design inspired by the popular Nexon EV, which adds more sportiness.

Tata Motors is also offering the 2026 Punch EV in a new color. This shade is similar to the Sunlit Yellow seen on the Harrier SUV and it comes with a contrasting black finished roof. Although the company has not fully revealed the rear updates, we expect it to have a connected LED tail lamp cluster similar to the one introduced on the ICE based Punch last month.

Smart Interior Upgrades and Advanced Features

Inside the cabin, the changes are subtle but effective. Reports suggest that the facelifted Punch EV will come with a larger 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system running on the latest software. This advanced unit comes directly from the Nexon EV and offers a more engaging user experience. Tata may also introduce new upholstery themes to refresh the interior feel. This new version of the SUV is also likely to include Level 2 ADAS technology, which will improve safety and convenience.

The 2026 Punch EV will continue to keep many popular features from the outgoing model. These include a 360 degree camera, 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, auto dimming inside rear view mirror and ambient lighting. The current variant lineup including Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure and Empowered grades is expected to continue.

Unchanged but Capable Powertrains

When it comes to power, the 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift will use the same reliable powertrain options as the current model. Buyers will still be able to choose between two battery packs, a 25 kWh unit and a 35 kWh unit. The 25 kWh battery offers a range of 265 km on a full charge and powers an electric motor that produces 82 bhp and 114 Nm torque. The larger 35 kWh battery gives a higher range of 365 km and is paired with a more powerful electric motor that delivers 121 bhp and 190 Nm torque.

Author's Take

Tata Motors to strengthen its dominance in the electric micro SUV segment. By integrating design cues from the Nexon EV and adding a larger infotainment screen, Tata is effectively premiumizing the Punch EV and aligning it with its more premium electric offerings. The possible addition of Level 2 ADAS further improves its value proposition and makes it a more feature rich option. Although the unchanged powertrain may feel like a missed opportunity, the existing range and performance are already competitive. This refresh ensures that the Punch EV remains an attractive choice, stays ahead of new rivals and continues its market leadership even with the expected price increase.
