Mahindra to Invest Rs 15,000 Crore to Build New Manufacturing Hub Near Nagpur

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a major long-term investment plan for India. The company will invest Rs 15,000 crore over the next ten years to build a new manufacturing ecosystem focused on vehicles, tractors, and future mobility technologies.

Instead of expanding its current factories, Mahindra has decided to create brand-new production facilities. This move shows the company’s intention to prepare early for future demand, especially for electric vehicles and modern SUVs.

Nagpur Plant to Become Mahindra’s Biggest Factory

The heart of this investment is a new greenfield manufacturing plant near Nagpur in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region. The site covers nearly 1,500 acres and will start production in 2028.

Once fully developed, this facility will become Mahindra’s largest manufacturing location in India.

The plant will support different vehicle technologies at the same location. This includes petrol and diesel vehicles, electric vehicles, and new modular platforms such as NU_IQ. This setup allows Mahindra to adjust production as market demand changes.

At full capacity, the Nagpur plant will be able to produce more than five lakh vehicles and around one lakh tractors every year. These products will serve both Indian and international markets.

Strong Push for Local Suppliers and Manufacturing Scale

Mahindra also plans to strengthen its supplier network in Maharashtra. The company will develop a dedicated supplier park spread across 150 acres in Sambhajinagar.

This supplier hub will support the Nagpur factory and Mahindra’s existing plants in Chakan and Nashik. By doing this, Mahindra aims to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and shorten supply chains.

In addition, the company plans to acquire over 2,000 acres of land across three locations in the state. These sites will support engine production, product development, and advanced technology work.

Government Support and Job Creation

Mahindra announced this investment on February 6, 2026, during the Advantage Vidarbha summit. State officials welcomed the project and highlighted its importance for regional development.

The new facilities are expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs. They will also help grow local industries and support long-term economic development in eastern Maharashtra.

Mahindra plans to use modern automation, digital manufacturing systems, and scalable infrastructure to meet global quality standards.

New Platforms and Future Products

Along with expanding manufacturing, Mahindra is preparing new products for the coming years. The company plans to grow its INGLO platform-based electric vehicle lineup over the next two to three years.

The NU_IQ monocoque platform will support several upcoming models. This platform approach helps Mahindra develop new vehicles faster while keeping costs under control.

Author Take :

By focusing on electric vehicles, modular platforms, and local suppliers, Mahindra is preparing itself for future regulations and global competition. If executed well, the Nagpur project could play a key role in Mahindra’s growth and strengthen India’s position as a global manufacturing base.
