Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has launched the updated Exter in India at a starting price of Rs. 5.79 lakh (ex-showroom). This refreshed micro SUV comes with more than 25 upgrades, and Hyundai says over two lakh customers have already bought the Exter since its original launch.

Key Features and Technology Upgrades

Hyundai has added several new features to improve comfort and usability. The updated Exter now gets metal pedals, a D-cut steering wheel, updated seat upholstery, and a folding armrest for the driver. Rear headrests and driver seat height adjustment are now standard across all variants.

The SUV continues to offer an electric sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and over-the-air updates for maps and infotainment. New additions include a dashcam, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear Type-C charging port, and Bluelink connectivity with over 60 connected features. Hyundai also says the system supports more than 300 voice commands that work even without internet access.

Engine and Performance Details

The Exter continues with Hyundai’s 1.2-liter four-cylinder Kappa petrol engine. It is available with both a five-speed manual (MT) and an AMT gearbox. Hyundai highlights that it is the only SUV in its segment to use a four-cylinder petrol engine.

Customers can also choose a 1.2-liter bi-fuel petrol-CNG option, which comes with a manual transmission.

Safety Features

Safety has been improved in the updated Exter. It now offers more than 45 safety features in total, with 30 features available as standard across all variants.

Six airbags continue to be standard. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) are also now standard across the entire lineup.
