2026 Hyundai i20 Teased With New Design and LED Light Bar Ahead of Debut
Fourth-Generation Hyundai i20 Gets New LED Lighting, Crossover-Inspired Styling and More Tech
Hyundai Brazil has shared a second teaser of the fourth-generation i20 hatchback, revealing more details about its production-spec design. The new images show the final lighting design of the car, including a long LED light bar at the front and Y-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). There is also a similar light bar at the back. We expect the new i20 to make its global debut around the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The new i20 has a lot of changes and it appears to be the biggest design update the model has received so far. It looks sharper and more upright than the old model, while the front light bar connects the lights on both sides. The Y-shaped DRLs look similar to the ones seen on a Lamborghini Revuelto. Below these are rectangular projector headlamps in their own section. This teaser also shows the production LED lights clearly for the first time.
At the back, the car has a connected LED light bar and boomerang-shaped lights on the sides. From the side, the hatchback has a more crossover-inspired look. It has a squarer shape and sharper body lines. Earlier tests also showed new alloy wheels, different bumpers, and a taller front end. Even with these updates, it is still a small car but looks much stronger on the road.
In India, the engine lineup is expected to remain unchanged. The standard i20 will likely continue with the 1.2-litre petrol engine, which produces 83 PS with the manual gearbox and 88 PS with the automatic version. Some global markets could also get hybrid powertrain options.
The i20 N Line is expected to retain its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. It will continue to be offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Production of the new i20 will take place at Hyundai's Piracicaba plant in Brazil, as well as its factories in India and Turkey.
Hyundai has not revealed the cabin yet, but test photos show the car could get two curved screens similar to other new Hyundai models. Higher variants are also expected to come with a major cabin upgrade, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS safety features.
