Norton Atlas Production Begins At TVS Hosur Plant Ahead Of Launch

The first Norton Atlas has rolled out from TVS Motor's Hosur plant ahead of its global debut next month

Norton Motorcycles has started production of the new Atlas motorcycle at TVS Motor Company's factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The first Atlas has now rolled out from the production line, and the motorcycle is set to make its global debut next month. It is one of the first completely new models developed after TVS Motor Company bought the British motorcycle brand in 2020. With production now underway, Norton is preparing to sell the Atlas in several markets around the world.

Designed In The UK, Built In India

The new Atlas was designed and developed at Norton's headquarters in Solihull, United Kingdom. However, the motorcycle will be built at TVS' Hosur plant in India.

Building the Atlas in India allows Norton to produce more motorcycles for global markets. It also frees up Norton's UK factory, which is currently busy making the Manx R superbike.

The rollout event took place on June 24 and was attended by Dr. Sutapa Choudhury, British Deputy High Commissioner for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, as well as senior executives from Norton and TVS Motor Company.

New 585cc Engine

Powered by a new 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank setup, which is housed in a steel trellis frame. Norton has also equipped the motorcycle with several modern features, including a Bosch six-axis IMU, five riding modes, fully adjustable KYB suspension, cornering cruise control, an 8-inch TFT screen and smartphone connectivity through the Norton Rider app. Together, these features are designed to make riding easier, safer and more comfortable.

Atlas And Atlas GT

Norton will offer the motorcycle in two versions – Atlas and Atlas GT.

The standard Atlas is made for riders who enjoy touring and adventure rides. It comes with a 19-inch front wheel, which can handle different types of roads more easily.

The Atlas GT is designed mainly for road riding and long highway journeys. It gets 17-inch wheels at both ends, giving it a more road-focused setup.

Both motorcycles were first shown at EICMA 2025 and are expected to play an important role in Norton's future plans.

India Launch Later This Year

Norton has confirmed that the Atlas will be launched in India later this year. The motorcycle is expected to be sold through TVS' upcoming premium dealership network called TVS Paddock.

The Atlas name has a long history in the Norton lineup. The original Atlas was launched in 1962 and became popular as a touring motorcycle that could cover long distances comfortably. The new model brings back that famous name while adding modern technology and new features.

With production now underway in Hosur, Norton is preparing for the motorcycle's global launch next month. Customer deliveries in international markets are expected to begin later this year.

For Buyers

The start of production shows that the Atlas is getting closer to reaching showrooms. While Norton has already revealed many of its features, buyers are still waiting for details such as pricing, power figures and weight. These details will give a clearer picture of how the Atlas compares with other adventure and touring motorcycles in the segment.
