Tata Motors Registers Over 10,000 Electric Cars in a Single Month

More people in India are now choosing electric cars, and Tata Motors has achieved a major milestone because of this growing demand. In May 2026, the company registered 10,326 electric cars, crossing the 10,000 mark in a single month for the first time. This was 102% higher than the same month last year. With this achievement, Tata Motors continued to be one of the leading electric car brands in India.

Tata to Launch More EVs Soon

Tata Motors is getting ready to launch more electric cars in the coming months. Planning to bring the Sierra EV, Safari EV, and the first model from the Avinya series to the market. These new launches will give buyers more choices and help Tata grow its electric car lineup. Tata EVs are now becoming popular not only in big cities but also in many smaller towns across the country.

Maharashtra Leads EV Registrations

Maharashtra recorded the highest number of Tata EV registrations in May 2026 with 1,382 units. Rajasthan came second with 1,302 registrations, followed by Telangana with 1,141 registrations. Kerala registered 1,057 EVs, while Tamil Nadu recorded 732 registrations. The figures show that people in many parts of India are now showing interest in electric vehicles.

Strong Demand in Many States

Tata also saw good sales in several other states like Uttar Pradesh recorded 731 registrations, while Delhi had 584 registrations. Gujarat and Karnataka followed with 532 and 531 registrations respectively. Odisha also made it into the top 10 states with 396 registrations. Together, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Kerala accounted for 4,882 registrations, which was nearly half of Tata's total EV sales in May.

The Tata Tiago EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, and Harrier EV are among the company's most popular electric cars. These models attract different types of buyers, from people purchasing their first EV to families looking for a larger SUV. Better charging facilities, improved battery technology, and strong customer support have also helped Tata grow its EV business across India.

Competition Is Growing

While Tata continues to perform strongly, competition in the electric vehicle market is also increasing. Companies such as Mahindra, MG, BYD, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, VinFast, and several other brands are bringing new EVs to India. This means customers will have more choices in the future.
