Skoda is introducing its high-performance SUV, the Kodiaq RS, in a very limited number of units in India. Prior to announcing its pricing, Skoda has released the complete specification of the SUV. The Kodiaq RS sits above the regular Kodiaq L&K and a total of 50 units have been allocated to India. Bookings are now open for the SUV with a booking amount of Rs. 3 lakh.
Kodiaq RS Exterior Features And Design
Visually, the Kodiaq RS features some sporting elements over its standard sibling. These include the RS-badged bumpers, glossy black treatment on the grille, windows surround and roof rails as well as the addition of a rear spoiler. A red line that joins the tail lamps also gives a sporting look to the SUV.
The Skoda SUV is fitted with LED Matrix headlamps with Adaptive Front Light System and all-weather lighting. It comes with a horizontal light strip incorporated in the grille, as well as side mirrors that project the Skoda logo onto the ground as the doors are opened.
Interior And Comfort Features
Inside, the Kodiaq RS gets black leather upholstery with red stitching, aluminum pedals and a three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters. It features a 26.03 cm Virtual Cockpit display for the driver.
Other notable features include the 32.77 cm touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 725W Canton audio system with 13 speakers and subwoofer, ventilated wireless phone charging pads, four USB Type-C ports, three-zone climate control system, panoramic sunroof and an electric tailgate.
The front seats feature heating, ventilation, power adjustment and memory functions, while the rear seats are adjustable and feature recline capability. Rear-seat passengers also get sunblinds.
Kodiaq RS Engine, Performance & Chassis
The Kodiaq RS is powered by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine which generates 265 bhp of maximum power along with 400 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission coupled to an all-wheel drive system.
It completes the 0-100 kmph run in 6.3 seconds with the top speed capped at 231 kmph. For better handling, Skoda has equipped the Kodiaq RS with Progressive Steering and Dynamic Chassis Control Plus.
The front-end of the SUV rides on a McPherson strut suspension arrangement, while the rear end employs a multi-link setup. It is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels. It gets 20-inch Elias alloy wheels shod with 235/45 R20 tyres along with an 18-inch space-saver spare wheel.
Kodiaq RS Dimensions & Boot Space
Dimensionally, the Kodiaq RS is 4,761mm long, 1,864mm wide and 1,682mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,789mm and a ground clearance of 194mm. The fuel tank capacity is rated at 58 litres.
The Kodiaq RS provides 281 litres of boot space when all the seats are occupied. By folding the third row, the boot space can be increased to 786 litres and by folding the second row, it goes up to 1,976 litres.
Kodiaq RS Safety Features And ADAS
It gets safety features like nine airbags, anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, Multi-Collision Brake and Manoeuvre Assist. Other safety features include a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). These include features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Traffic Alert, Driver Attention Monitor, 360-degree camera and Intelligent Park Assist.
Colour Options & Expected Price
The Skoda Kodiaq RS will be available in four colour variants - Steel Grey, Velvet Red, Magic Black and Moon White. Although Skoda has not yet revealed the price of the SUV, it is expected to be priced above Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Only 50 units of the Skoda Kodiaq RS have been allocated for India. Prices are expected to be announced soon.
