Skoda Kylaq Sportline Coming This Festive Season: New Sporty Compact SUV Variant

Skoda Kylaq Sportline Launching Soon

Skoda Kylaq Sportline is set to launch in India this festive season with 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and premium features

Skoda is preparing to launch a new version of its compact SUV, the Kylaq. Called the Sportline, the new variant is expected to arrive during the festive season later this year. The Kylaq has already become a popular model and one of the key volume sellers for Skoda in India. Confirmed by the brand earlier this year, the Sportline trim will give the SUV a sportier look for buyers who want something different.

What is New on the Sportline?

The Sportline version will mostly focus on how the car looks on the outside. You will likely see many black-colored parts instead of the usual chrome. These changes could include:

  • Black alloy wheels

  • Darker design parts on the body

  • Black accents around the car

  • Special Sportline badges

Skoda has used this same Sportline style on its other cars like the Kushaq and Slavia. Similar Sportline versions are also sold in several international markets. This new trim will probably sit between the middle and the top versions of the Kylaq. While the outside looks more aggressive, the engine will stay the same.

Features and Safety

The Sportline variant will have many features from the higher versions of the Kylaq. Inside the cabin, you might find:

  • A large touchscreen for music and maps

  • Wireless phone charging and connectivity

  • Automatic climate control

  • Digital dials for the driver

  • Cruise control

  • Connected car technology

The Kylaq Sportline is expected to come with six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring and hill hold assist. Rear parking sensors will also be included to make parking easier.

Engine and Performance

The Skoda Kylaq Sportline will continue with the familiar 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic transmission. No changes in power or torque are expected for this Sportline version. Skoda could also introduce the new eight-speed automatic gearbox that was recently seen in the updated Kushaq.

Built on the MQB A0 IN platform, the Kylaq shares its underpinnings with models such as the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus. Despite the Sportline badge, India is unlikely to get a faster RS version of the compact SUV as the Kylaq currently sits at the entry level of Skoda's India portfolio.

Price and Variants

Currently, the Skoda Kylaq costs between Rs. 7.5 lakh and Rs. 12.9 lakh. These prices are ex-showroom and it is available in several versions like Classic, Signature, and Prestige. The current lineup also includes Classic+, Signature+ and Prestige+ variants. The Sportline will add one more choice for customers and Skoda will share more details about the exact price and colors closer to the launch date.
