TVS Apache RTX 300 Gets Price Hike Within 15 Days of Launch

TVS Apache RTX 300 BTO Gets Rs 5,000 Price Hike Within 15 Days of Launch

TVS Motor Company has raised the price of the Apache RTX 300 BTO variant by Rs 5,000 only two weeks after its launch on October 15. The Built-to-Order model now costs Rs 2.34 lakh (ex-showroom), compared to the earlier Rs 2.29 lakh.

Interestingly, the price change applies only to the Viper Green color option. Other BTO shades such as Tarn Bronze, Metallic Blue, and Lightning Black remain priced at Rs 2.29 lakh.

Having covered many motorcycle launches over the years, I can confirm that such a quick, selective price adjustment is unusual. It likely reflects either strong demand for the green finish or rising material costs specific to that paint.

No Change for Base and Top Variants

TVS has kept prices unchanged for the other models. The Base variant still costs Rs 1.99 lakh, while the Top version continues at Rs 2.14 lakh.

Only the Viper Green color under the BTO trim has seen an increase. Typically, manufacturers adjust prices across all variants together, which makes this selective change stand out as a deliberate move.

BTO Variant Features and Upgrades

The Built-to-Order (BTO) version offers several premium features for the additional cost. Buyers get:

  • Fully adjustable suspension at both ends

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) displayed on the TFT screen

  • Brass-coated chain for longer life and lower maintenance

  • Exclusive Viper Green color finish

These features are designed for touring riders who value custom suspension tuning and reduced upkeep.

Engine and Core Performance

The Apache RTX 300 uses the new RT-XD4 engine, a 299.1cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder motor that produces 35.5 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Newton-meters of torque at 7,000 rpm.

It comes paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch and a bi-directional quick-shifter for clutchless gear changes.

Weighing 180 kilograms, the RTX 300 remains manageable for an adventure bike. The 12.5-litre tank offers a range of around 300 to 350 kilometers, making it suitable for long rides. Its 835mm seat height is comfortable for most riders.

Electronics and Ride Modes

All variants come with a ride-by-wire throttle that enables four ride modes: Urban, Rain, Tour, and Rally. Each mode fine-tunes throttle response, ABS, and traction control for specific riding conditions.

The bike also includes three ABS levels and two traction control settings, allowing riders to adjust the level of safety intervention.

Cruise control is standard across all variants, which is a rare inclusion in this segment. The Top and BTO versions also feature a variable-intensity headlamp that adjusts brightness based on lighting conditions.

Display and Connectivity

The Base variant has a 5-inch TFT display showing essential ride information. The Top and BTO variants upgrade to a Bluetooth-enabled display that supports:

  • Google Maps navigation via the SmartXonnect app

  • Ride analytics with acceleration and braking data

  • GoPro camera control from the screen

These features make the higher variants more appealing for riders who enjoy touring and digital integration.

Why the Price Hike

Buyers who booked the BTO Viper Green variant at launch saved Rs 5,000 compared to those ordering now. While the amount is not huge, such an early price change can affect brand perception and customer trust.

TVS has not provided an official reason for the increase. Possible explanations include higher demand for the green color, supplier cost adjustments, or a pricing experiment to test market response.

Competition Overview

Even after the price increase, the Apache RTX 300 BTO remains competitively priced.

  • KTM 390 Adventure: Rs 3.54 lakh

  • Royal Enfield Himalayan 452: Rs 2.90 to 3.15 lakh

  • BMW G 310 GS: Above Rs 3.80 lakh

Despite the revision, the RTX 300 continues to offer strong value for money with its premium suspension, advanced electronics, and build quality.

Should You Buy the Apache RTX 300 Now

If you want an adventure bike with adjustable suspension, cruise control, and premium touring features, the BTO variant still makes sense. The Rs 5,000 increase does not change the overall value.

However, if you are not fixed on the green color, you can save the same amount by choosing Tarn Bronze, Metallic Blue, or Lightning Black. All these versions share identical hardware and features.

For touring riders, the RTX 300 remains one of the most balanced and feature-rich bikes in its class. For everyday city use, the Top variant at Rs 2.14 lakh may offer better value.
