Yamaha R3 and MT-03 Prices Cut by ₹20,000 After New 18% GST Slab
Yamaha R3 now ₹3.39 lakh, MT-03 ₹3.30 lakh after GST cut to 18% for ≤350 cc bikes, boosting festive demand.
Yamaha has reduced the ex-showroom prices of the R3 and MT-03 in India as the new GST slab lowers tax on bikes up to 350 cc to 18 percent from 28 percent, effective September 22, 2025. The R3 now costs Rs 3.39 lakh and the MT-03 costs Rs 3.30 lakh, a cut of about Rs 20,000 per model compared to earlier stickers listed this month across major outlets. This is the second reduction in 2025 after Yamaha trimmed prices by about Rs 1.10 lakh in January, which made both 321 cc twins more affordable versus rivals like Aprilia RS 457 and KTM 390 range on price and monthly EMIs. The reduction is in line with industry-wide revisions for sub-350 cc motorcycles under the new GST structure and should support festive-season bookings.
New prices and savings
- Yamaha R3: Rs 3.39 lakh, down from about Rs 3.60 lakh, roughly Rs 20,000 relief after GST for sub-350 cc bikes.
- Yamaha MT-03: Rs 3.30 lakh, earlier near Rs 3.50 lakh, same Rs 20,000 cut at ex-showroom level, city-wise variances may apply on-road.
- January 2025 correction: Both models had already got an approximate Rs 1.10 lakh cut at the beginning of the year, so this is the second correction in 2025.
What remains the same
- Both models continue with 321 cc parallel-twin engine, 6-speed gearbox, diamond frame, telescopic fork, monoshock, and dual-channel ABS, R3 is faired sport and MT-03 is the naked sibling on the same platform.
- India units are CBUs, so prices are above some locally assembled rivals despite the tax benefit; but the gap narrows after the new GST slab.
Market context
- GST revision: Bikes up to 350 cc are 18% GST, above 350 cc are 40% GST under new slabs
- Competition: R3 and MT-03 are for twin-cylinder smoothness and balanced chassis feel, against Aprilia RS 457, Tuono 457 and KTM 390 range for street and track use.
Old Price Vs New Price
Model | Old Price | New Price | Change |
---|---|---|---|
Yamaha R3 | ~₹3.60 lakh | ₹3.39 lakh | ~₹20,000 down |
Yamaha MT-03 | ~₹3.50 lakh | ₹3.30 lakh | ~₹20,000 down |
Analysis and insights
The GST cut finally puts the R3 and MT-03 in a more sensible space for twin-cylinder buyers, especially those who prefer smooth mid-range and predictable handling over headline numbers, which should see more sales during the festive season. The CBU route will still command a premium over CKD rivals but the total cost of ownership comes down with the new GST which could see more finance approvals and lower EMIs for urban buyers. If Yamaha keeps inventory and adds test-ride drives across Blue Square outlets, the combination of price and availability could see a stronger close to Q3 FY26 in the premium sub-350 cc space.
