The Kia Carnival, a well-regarded vehicle known for its spaciousness and comfort, will soon offer a new powertrain option in India. The current fourth-generation model, introduced in late 2024, has been positioned as a premium choice, primarily available with a diesel engine. However, Kia will launch a petrol hybrid version in the Indian market within this year. This expansion will provide a new alternative in the luxury MPV segment.

The upcoming Kia Carnival hybrid will feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor. This setup operates as a full parallel hybrid system, electric motor contributes 54 kW of power, resulting in a combined output of 242 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque. Power will be sent through a six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle will also include a three-level regenerative braking system, which helps recover energy during deceleration, improving overall efficiency.

While the existing diesel Carnival delivers strong torque, the hybrid model aims to balance performance with improved fuel economy. International specifications indicate this hybrid can achieve up to 14.5 kilometers per liter.
