Kia Syros EV Spotted Testing in India: Launch Date, Features And Range
Kia Syros EV Spotted Testing in India A New Electric SUV Coming Soon
Kia is preparing to launch a new electric SUV this year, building on the success of the Seltos. The upcoming Syros EV is currently undergoing extensive road testing. Test mules have been spotted multiple times on public roads, showing that development is progressing well.
Local Production and Distinctive Design
Recently, a heavily camouflaged prototype of the Syros EV was spotted in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, which is Kia’s manufacturing hub in India. This facility will also produce the electric model.
The EV version is expected to feature unique split headlamps, while its front grille design will likely differ from the standard Syros.
Advanced Interior and EV-Specific Functions
Inside, the Syros EV is likely to feature a fresh colour scheme suited to its electric setup. It will get large 12.3-inch HD displays for both the instrument cluster and infotainment system. These screens will show EV-specific data and functions.
Paddle shifters will also be offered to adjust regenerative braking levels, helping recharge the battery while slowing down.
Aerodynamic Enhancements and Wheel Design
Unlike the ICE version, which has two grille openings, the Syros EV is expected to feature a single opening at the lower front bumper. This design may include active aerodynamic flaps that open only when required, helping improve efficiency.
The 17-inch alloy wheels will have an exclusive two-tone design. The EV will also get flush-fitted roof rails, unlike the ICE model, to improve aerodynamics.
Battery Technology and Driving Range
The Syros EV is expected to come with two single-motor front-wheel-drive (FWD) variants, offering different battery options. Both will use LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery cells sourced from Exide Energy.
The long-range version is likely to deliver around 475–500 km on a single charge. It may also support vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging, allowing users to power external devices.
Comfort, Safety, and Premium Features
Kia is expected to offer several comfort and safety features. These may include ventilated front seats with 4-way power adjustment, automatic climate control, and even a ventilated rear seat with sliding and reclining functions.
Other highlights could include 64-colour ambient lighting and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Safety features are likely to include a 360º camera, Level 2 ADAS, a dual-camera dashcam, and six airbags.
