New Maruti Suzuki Brezza Spotted With 6-Speed MT and Bigger Screen
Maruti Suzuki is testing the 2026 Brezza facelift with a new 6-speed manual gearbox and a larger 10.1-inch screen
A camouflaged test vehicle of the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza has been spotted again. This suggests that Maruti Suzuki is working on a mid-cycle update for its compact SUV. The facelifted version is expected to go on sale soon in India with minor cosmetic updates and a longer features list.
The Brezza plays a significant role in Maruti Suzuki’s high-volume sales in the SUV segment in India. The company is now set to introduce a facelifted model in the coming months. Test prototypes have been spotted frequently on Indian roads.
Overall Look Remains the Same
While the overall proportions of the new Brezza remain instantly recognisable, the test vehicle suggests that the focus this time is on functionality and the inclusion of new technology and features. The front end does not show obvious alterations under camouflage.
However, redesigned alloy wheels have been clearly observed on the test vehicle. A small exposed section along the side hints at slimmer body cladding, suggesting a slightly cleaner look compared to the outgoing model.
CNG Tank Placement Changes
One of the most talked-about developments is related to the CNG variant. The updated Brezza is believed to be evaluating an underfloor CNG tank placement instead of positioning the cylinder inside the luggage bay.
If this configuration makes it to production, it would solve one of the biggest compromises faced by CNG buyers — reduced boot capacity. Earlier prototypes carrying CNG markings have added weight to this speculation, but heavy camouflage makes it difficult to confirm definitively. Such a move would significantly enhance practicality for buyers choosing the CNG variant.
Larger Touchscreen Inside
Interior upgrades are expected to play a central role in the refresh. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit is likely to be introduced. This new screen could offer improved resolution and expanded connectivity features.
The SUV already comes with a head-up display that supports navigation prompts. The new infotainment system would be a notable upgrade for the cabin experience.
6-Speed Manual Gearbox Upgrade
The test sighting suggests that a six-speed manual gearbox may replace the existing five-speed unit. This new gearbox will likely be paired with the 1.5-litre petrol engine.
This upgrade could provide smoother gear changes and improved highway driving comfort, while also potentially helping with better fuel efficiency.
Engine Lineup Remains the Same
Mechanically, the Brezza is expected to retain its current engine lineup. The 1.5-litre K15C petrol motor should continue to produce around 102 bhp and 137 Nm of torque.
The CNG version is likely to maintain outputs close to 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm. No major changes are expected to engine performance in the facelifted version.
Once launched, the updated Brezza will continue to compete with other popular compact SUVs in India such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV3XO. The facelifted model is expected to arrive later in 2026 with slightly updated pricing compared to the current version.
