Delhi EV Policy 2026: Up to Rs 1 Lakh Subsidy, Tax Waiver Till 2030
Delhi Government Pushes EV Adoption with New Policy Benefits
The Delhi Government is actively supporting the shift to electric vehicles (EVs) through a mix of incentives and better infrastructure. Plans include expanding public charging stations in key areas, improving home charging access, and setting up proper systems for battery recycling and disposal.
Financial Incentives for EV Buyers
Financial benefits remain a major attraction for buyers. Electric vehicles registered in Delhi will continue to get a full waiver on road tax and registration charges until March 2030. This reduces the total cost of ownership and makes EVs more affordable.
Attractive Benefits for Private Car Owners
Private car buyers can get additional support under the policy. Zero-emission vehicles priced up to Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom) may qualify for incentives of up to Rs. 1 lakh. However, this benefit will be limited to a select number of applicants.
Scrappage-Linked Incentives to Reduce Pollution
To reduce pollution, the government is introducing a scrappage-linked incentive program. Owners of older vehicles, especially BS-IV or earlier models, can receive benefits if they scrap their vehicles at authorized centers and switch to EVs within a set time.
Retrofitting Options for Existing Vehicles
The policy also provides an option for those who do not want to scrap their current vehicles. It explores retrofitting incentives, allowing petrol or diesel cars to be converted into electric vehicles. This support could go up to Rs. 50,000.
Support for Mass Market Segments
The policy also focuses on mass segments. Electric two-wheelers are expected to get incentives of around Rs. 10,000, while electric three-wheelers may receive support of about Rs. 25,000. This approach aims to support a wider range of buyers.
