Expert View
Motorcycles still played major role of Hero’s overall sales. Nearly 5 lakh motorcycles were dispatched in February alone, which clearly indicating that petrol motorcycles still dominate the market even as electric scooters are slowly growing.
Scooters are also supporting the company’s sales growth. Models such as Xoom and Destini are seeing better demand in cities where riders prefer automatic scooters for daily travel in traffic.
Hero’s Vida electric scooters are also gaining some traction, brand recorded more than 12,000 registrations in February. This number is still small compared with petrol vehicles, but the growth shows that Hero is slowly expanding its presence in the electric scooter market where brands like Ola, TVS and Ather already compete. For buyers, Hero will likely continue focusing on reliable mileage focused motorcycles while slowly expanding its electric scooter lineup.
