MG Windsor EV Hits 65,000 Sales In India, 70% Demand from Smaller Cities

MG Windsor EV gains popularity in India with 65,000 sales and strong demand beyond metros

JSW MG Motor India has announced that the Windsor EV has crossed 65,000 units in sales in the Indian market. A key highlight is that more than 70 per cent of these sales have come from non-metro cities, while major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai together account for only 30 per cent.

Strong Demand Beyond Metro Cities

The sales split clearly shows that the Windsor EV is gaining strong traction outside major urban centers. This shift indicates growing EV acceptance in smaller cities, where buyers are increasingly considering electric vehicles as a practical option.

Why Windsor EV Popular

One of the main reasons behind this success is its strong value offering. The Windsor EV is competitively priced, comes in multiple variants, and offers a spacious cabin along with a long list of features. This combination makes it attractive for both first-time car buyers and those upgrading to an EV.

Battery Options and Performance

The Windsor EV is offered with two battery choices. The standard version gets a 38 kWh battery with a claimed range of 332 km, while the Pro variants use a larger 52.9 kWh battery offering up to 449 km on a single charge.

Both versions support 60 kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in around 50 minutes. The electric motor produces 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque.

Interior and Comfort Features

Inside, MG has focused on comfort and technology. The rear seats can recline up to 135 degrees, making long journeys more relaxing. A large 15.6-inch touchscreen controls most functions and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other features include ventilated front seats, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, 256-color ambient lighting, and a wireless charging pad.

Design and Exterior Highlights

The Windsor EV follows MG’s ‘Aeroglide’ design language, giving it a clean and modern look. It features an illuminated MG logo, connected LED light bars at the front and rear, and flush door handles that extend automatically.

Higher variants further enhance the premium feel with 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and a fixed panoramic glass roof.

Safety and Advanced Features

Safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold as standard.

The Pro variants add Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. They also get a powered tailgate and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, which allows external devices to be powered using the car’s battery.
