2026 Kawasaki Ninja 500 gets E20 compliance, a new colour scheme and a Rs 10,000 price increase

Kawasaki India has introduced the 2026 Ninja 500 at a price of Rs 5.76 lakh (ex-showroom), making it around Rs 10,000 more expensive than the previous model. The motorcycle continues to be brought to India via the CBU route and now gets a new Lime Green colour scheme. In the Indian market, it competes closely with the Aprilia RS 457.

Built for New Fuel Rules

One of the most important updates is that the 2026 Ninja 500 now follows E20 fuel rules. This means it can run on petrol mixed with 20% ethanol. This update suggests that Kawasaki is not planning to discontinue the Ninja 500 in India anytime soon.

The bike is built on a trellis frame, similar to the powerful Ninja H2 and it is very light, weighing only 157 kg. Its low weight, combined with a short wheelbase and a long swingarm, is designed to enhance handling.

Engine and Performance

The 2026 Ninja 500 uses a 451cc twin-cylinder engine that is liquid-cooled. It produces 51 bhp of power and 43 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. You can expect a fuel mileage of around 25 to 26 kmpl.

Design and Comfort

Kawasaki has given the Ninja 500 a relaxed riding position with a high handlebar and slightly forward-set footpegs. The bike also gets a comfortable seat and the latest Ninja-inspired front design with twin headlights.

The bike rides on 17-inch wheels with Dunlop Sportmax tyres. For braking, it has a 310 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the back. It also comes with dual-channel ABS as a standard safety feature.

Features and Missing Tech

The 2026 Ninja 500 comes with all-LED lighting and an LCD screen that connects to your smartphone. However, for a bike at this price, it misses out on some features that its rivals have. It does not have:

  • Cruise control

  • A quick-shifter

  • Tire pressure monitoring (TPMS)

  • Different ride modes or wheelie control

Apart from missing some premium features, the Ninja 500 continues to focus on low weight and performance
