2026 Tata Tigor Patent Images Reveal New Design, Bigger Touchscreen And More

Tata Motors has patented the design of the 2026 Tata Tigor in India, giving an early look at the updates planned for the compact sedan. The patent images reveal several styling changes that appear to be inspired by the recently updated Tiago hatchback. The Tigor remains one of the few compact sedans available in the Indian market and has already received two major updates since its launch.

Rear Design Gets Noticeable Changes

Most of the styling updates can be seen at the rear of the sedan. The tail lamps have been redesigned, while the boot lid now looks flatter and cleaner than before. It has also revised the rear bumper with larger sculpted sections at the corners and a new position for the number plate.

The rear glass remains blacked out, helping the sedan maintain a modern appearance. Overall, the changes give the Tigor a fresher look and bring it closer to the design language seen on the latest Tiago.

Front Looks Sharper

The front section also gets several updates, including a redesigned bumper with a wider air intake and horizontal slats. The upper grille looks slimmer than before, while the reshaped headlights help give the sedan a sharper appearance.

The bonnet design remains largely unchanged, but the flatter front panel and revised bumper help give the sedan a sharper road presence.

From the side, the Tigor retains its familiar notchback design, with the roofline flowing smoothly into a short boot section. The patent images also reveal new alloy wheel designs and slightly revised side panels, while the overall silhouette remains largely unchanged.

New Features Likely To Be Added

Many of the new features are expected to be shared with the recently updated Tiago hatchback. The updated Tigor could get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging and cruise control. Some variants may also feature paddle shifters for the automatic gearbox.

Inside the cabin, Tata is expected to introduce a redesigned dashboard along with a fully digital instrument cluster. Other expected additions include automatic climate control with rear AC vents, a revised centre console and new interior trims. These additions should make the interior feel more modern than the current model.

Engine Options Expected To Continue

While the design and feature list are likely to see major changes, the mechanical package is expected to remain unchanged. It will likely continue with the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces around 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque. Buyers should continue to get a choice between a five-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed automatic transmission.

The CNG version is also expected to remain on sale. It produces 73 hp and 95 Nm of torque and is currently available with both manual and automatic transmission options.

Tigor EV May Receive Similar Updates

The Tigor EV is also likely to receive similar exterior and interior updates. It could get the same revised front and rear styling, updated lighting elements, new alloy wheels and an updated cabin layout. However, the battery pack and driving range are not expected to change as part of this update.

Launch Timeline

Tata Motors has not announced an official launch date for the updated sedan yet. However, the latest patent filing indicates that the refreshed Tigor is moving closer to production.

Once launched, the updated Tigor will continue to rival models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Aura in the compact sedan segment.
