2027 Next-Gen Hyundai i20 Again Teased With Dual 12.3-Inch Touchscreen
Hyundai teasers reveal the next-gen i20 with dual 12.3-inch Touchscreen, sharper design, and hybrid-ready engines
Hyundai has released another teaser of the upcoming next-generation i20. This time, the company has revealed the car's new dual-screen setup inside the cabin. The hatchback will launch in Brazil first, and reports say it could arrive in India by early 2027.
A High-Tech Cabin with Dual Screens
The major change inside the new i20 is the dual-screen setup. It features a 12.3-inch central touchscreen for the music and maps, and another 12.3-inch digital display for the driver. These two screens are connected, making it look like one large display across the dashboard. A similar setup is already available in the new Hyundai Venue. The driver's display is expected to use a similar interface and graphics as the new Hyundai Venue.
The screens will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a big upgrade from the current model that needs a wire. You will also get Bluelink connected car features and physical buttons below the screen to make it easy to use while driving.
The outgoing i20 uses wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so wireless connectivity would be a useful upgrade.
Fresh New Exterior Design
Exterior, as per the teasers it will look much sharper and more dynamic. Here are some of the key changes:
- Lights: New LED headlamps with "Y-shaped" daytime running lights and a full-width LED light bar at the front.
- Body: The car will have new bumpers, larger wheels, and connected LED tail lamps at the back.
- Stance: It will have more ground clearance and wheel arch cladding, giving it a tougher look. The window line will also rise sharply towards the back.
The A and C pillars will have a steeper rake, giving the hatchback a sportier profile. It is expected to grow in size too, becoming taller, wider, and longer with a longer wheelbase. This means more space for everyone inside.
Improved Interior and Features
Hyundai is also expected to improve the overall cabin design, trims, and material quality. Along with the new screens, the i20 is expected to come with:
- Ventilated Seats: Front seats that keep you cool in hot weather.
- Smart Safety: It will likely get ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to help prevent accidents.
- Better Lighting: Improved ambient lighting to make the cabin look cool at night.
Several features from the current i20 are expected to be carried forward as well.
Engine and Hybrid Options
The new i20 will likely use the same engines we have now: a 1.2-litre petrol engine for the regular car and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol for the sporty N-Line version.
There is also a possibility of Hyundai introducing a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine in the future. The best part is that the new i20 is designed to be "hybrid-ready," so we might see a hybrid version in the future that gives even better mileage.
India Launch and Competition
While the car will launch in Brazil soon, we expect it to arrive in India by early 2027. Once it is here, it will compete with popular cars like the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz. It might even face competition from crossover models like the Maruti Fronx and Toyota Taisor.
