MG Majestor Deliveries Start Across India After Recent Launch
Introduction
MG Motor India has finally started giving out its top-of-the-line SUV, the Majestor! One of the first customer deliveries was recently recorded in Chhattisgarh, marking the start of deliveries for MG's new flagship SUV. The MG Majestor first came out on May 27th, with prices starting at Rs 40.99 lakh and Savvy 4x2 6-seater and 7-seater variants are priced at Rs 40.99 lakh, while the top-spec Savvy 4x4 7-seater costs Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom). MG is also expected to announce the prices of the Sharp variants soon. So, let’s check out what makes this SUV so special and what you can expect!
The MG Majestor is positioned as MG's new flagship SUV in India. When you compare it to its family member, the Gloster, the Majestor looks much fancier and more powerful. It gets several design changes that help it stand apart from the Gloster.
What it Looks Like on the Outside
Up front, the Majestor has a huge shiny black grille that proudly shows off the "MORRIS GARAGES" name. It also has a cool split-headlamp setup. Thin LED lights for daytime driving sit on top, and the main LED headlights are neatly placed lower down in the bumper. The front bumper has been completely changed, giving it a tough look with a big silver plate underneath. The grille also features vertical LED elements that give the SUV a distinctive appearance.
From the side, the Majestor looks a bit like the Gloster, but it has some new touches. You will find brand-new 19-inch wheels with thicker tires made for all kinds of roads. Plus, it has thick body trim, updated side parts, and stronger lines along its sides.
At the back, the Majestor features connected LED tail lights joined by a smooth shiny black strip. You will also see the big "MAJESTOR" name on the back door, a new bumper, vertical reflectors, and two exhaust pipes. The Majestor is among the largest SUVs in its segment, measuring 5,046 mm long, 2,016 mm wide, and 1,876 mm tall.
Step Inside the Car
Inside, the Majestor gets a redesigned cabin with a cleaner dashboard layout than the Gloster. The dashboard is much neater, with an all-black look and small grey touches. This SUV now comes with two 12.3-inch screens—one for the touch screen entertainment system and the other for a full digital display for the driver. MG also made sure to include a good number of regular buttons, which many drivers will like.
Seats and How Comfy They Are
The Majestor lets you choose between 6-seat and 7-seat setups. If you pick the 6-seater, you will get special captain seats in the middle row. These seats come with their own armrests, can recline, and even have air conditioning. The second-row captain seats also offer ventilation, reclining functionality, and massage features.
The 7-seater version, on the other hand, has a regular bench seat in the middle row and a roomy third row. You will have a storage space of 343 litres with all seats up, and you can make this much bigger by folding down the back seats.
Lots of Features and Top Safety
MG has equipped the Majestor with a long list of premium features. You will get a panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, smart car tech, 64-colour inside lights, two wireless phone chargers, a power-operated back door, an air cleaner, and multi-zone air conditioning. Other cool things include air-conditioned front seats, massaging front seats, electric adjustable seats, and a 360-degree camera system.
When it comes to safety, the Majestor has you covered. It comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist (which helps on hills), a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and parking sensors for the front and back. Plus, it has a full Level 2 ADAS system. This includes things like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and many other smart safety features. The Level 2 ADAS package also includes several driver assistance and collision-avoidance features.
What’s Under the Hood
Power comes from the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine used in the Gloster. This engine can make 215 PS of power and 478.5 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox handles all the gear changes, making for smooth driving.
If you choose the 4WD version, you will also get different driving modes for various terrains, three differential locks, and a good water-wading ability. These features improve the SUV's capability across different driving conditions.
The MG Majestor will go up against popular SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Fortuner Legender, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tayron in India.
