Hyundai has officially launched the fourth-generation i20 in Brazil. This new car is built on a modern K3 platform and comes with a fresh design, a high-tech interior, and many smart safety features. In Brazil, the new i20 is priced starting from BRL 99,990, which is about Rs 18.77 lakh, and it sits between the HB20 and the Creta in Hyundai’s lineup.
Modern Exterior Design
The new i20 is 4,130 mm long, 1,780 mm wide, and has a 2,580 mm wheelbase. It features a sharp new look with "H-styled" LED lights, a full-width light bar, and rectangular headlamps at the front. The front grille has a new hexagonal shape with sharper corners.
From the side, you can see a window line that rises sharply towards the back, giving the car a more sporty look. It also has circular wheel arches, body cladding, and large 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the back, the car features edgy tail lamps that are connected across the tailgate.
A High-Tech Interior with Dual Screens
Inside the cabin, the new i20 feels very premium. It features two large 12.3-inch touch screens—one for the infotainment system and one for the driver's display. It is also the first Hyundai model in Brazil to offer over-the-air (OTA) software updates as new features get updated through internet automatically.
Other key interior features include:
- Connectivity: A built-in 5G chip for fast internet, Bluelink connected car features, front and rear USB chargers, and an emergency SOS button.
- Convenience: A wireless phone charger, an electronic parking brake, and physical buttons for the air conditioning.
- Comfort: A steering wheel with paddle shifters and a 346-litre boot for carrying luggage.
Advanced Safety Features
As per safety, It comes with the Hyundai SmartSense package, which includes many smart safety features like:
- Collision Help: Blind spot collision avoidance assist and forward collision avoidance assist.
- Lane Help: Lane keeping assist and lane following assist.
- Driver Assistance: Leading vehicle departure alert and intelligent speed limit assist.
- Standard Safety: Every model comes with six airbags, stability control, hill start assist, vehicle stability management (VSM), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The new K3 platform is also much stronger than before, using high-strength steel to better protect everyone inside during an accident. It also supports turbocharged and hybrid powertrains for different global markets.
Engine and Performance
In Brazil, the new i20 uses a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine which produces 115 hp of power and 172 Nm of torque. Most models come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, but the Limited version also offers a 6-speed manual option. The car can reach a top speed of 184 km/h and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.7 seconds.
