Maruti Suzuki dominated May 2026 hatchback Sales With The Baleno, WagonR And Swift leading The Chart
Maruti Suzuki once again dominated the hatchback segment in May 2026, with its cars occupying the first five positions in the sales rankings. Overall, the company had six models in the top ten list, while the Baleno emerged as the best-selling hatchback of the month ahead of the WagonR and Swift.
Maruti Baleno Takes the Top Spot
The Maruti Baleno was the highest-selling hatchback last month, with 18,398 units sold. This is a huge 58% jump compared to May last year. The Baleno is sold through Nexa showrooms and comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 90 hp and 113 Nm of torque, while a CNG version is also available. It is popular because it offers great features like a 9-inch touchscreen, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a head-up display.
WagonR and Swift Follow Closely
The Maruti WagonR came in second place with 18,076 units sold, just 322 units behind the Baleno. Buyers continue to prefer the WagonR because it offers a spacious cabin and multiple powertrain choices, including 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines along with a factory-fitted CNG option.
The new-generation Maruti Swift took the third spot with 17,519 units. The latest Swift uses a new three-cylinder Z-Series engine and also offers a CNG version for those who want better mileage.
