Tata Sierra EV Dual-Motor AWD Confirmed Ahead Of June 30 Launch

Tata Sierra EV to Get Dual-Motor AWD, New Teaser Confirms All-Wheel Drive

Introduction

A new video for the upcoming Tata Sierra EV shows that it will have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. A small "QWD Dual Motor" badge can be seen on the rear of the SUV, confirming that a dual-motor AWD variant will be part of the Sierra EV lineup.

Tough Roads And Off-Road Driving

The video shows the Sierra EV driving through sand in a desert. This highlights the better grip and traction offered by the dual-motor AWD system. It gets thick black body cladding around the lower section and squared-off wheel arches. This helps it keep the bold and upright look that the Sierra is known for.

At the back, there is a full-width LED light bar that stretches across the tailgate. The rear glass is blacked out, and there is a roof spoiler as well. The "Sierra.ev" lettering is placed below the Tata logo. The SUV also gets dual-tone aero-style alloy wheels fitted with Michelin tyres. The video further reveals roof rails, a strong shoulder line and a flat rear design.

 Modern Features

The front gets a full-width LED daytime running light, while the main headlamp units are positioned lower on the bumper. Instead of a traditional grille, the Sierra EV features a closed front panel. It also retains the signature clamshell bonnet, which connects it to the upcoming petrol and diesel versions.

Inside, the SUV is expected to feature a triple-screen dashboard setup and a JBL audio system. Other expected features include a large panoramic glass roof, head-up display and dual-zone climate control. The Sierra EV is also likely to get connected car technology, an electric parking brake, powered tailgate, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.

For safety, Tata is expected to offer Level 2 ADAS along with several advanced driver assistance features.

Battery And Performance

Tata has not shared the exact battery details yet, but the Sierra EV is expected to use the same battery packs as the Harrier EV. This could mean a driving range of more than 500 km on a single charge. The SUV is also expected to support DC fast charging and bi-directional charging, allowing the battery to power external devices when needed.

Launch On June 30

The Sierra EV will launch on June 30, 2026. It is expected to be positioned below the Harrier EV in Tata's electric vehicle lineup. Rivals will include the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Kia Carens Clavis EV, MG ZS EV and Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.
