2026 Maruti Brezza facelift may get bigger touchscreen, front parking sensors, 6-speed manual gearbox and improved CNG layout
The updated version of the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza appears to be getting closer. Test vehicles covered in camouflage have been seen several times in recent months which suggests the development is moving toward the final stage. The Brezza is one of the most important SUVs for Maruti Suzuki and it already has more than 14 lakh customers in India. In this article we will look at the possible changes and new features that could arrive with the upcoming Brezza facelift based on recent spy shots and industry trends.
Exterior Design Will Stay Familiar
Spy images suggest the overall shape of the 2026 Brezza will remain the same. The compact SUV already has a design that buyers recognise easily which means Maruti Suzuki is unlikely to change the body structure or dimensions.
Small styling revisions are still expected, the facelift could bring new alloy wheel designs along with minor updates to body cladding and lighting elements. These changes are meant to refresh the look without changing the basic character of the SUV.
Larger Touchscreen Could Arrive Inside the Cabin
Inside the cabin the update may focus more on technology. The current Brezza uses a 9 inch touchscreen on the top variant while the mid variants get a smaller 7 inch display.
The facelift could introduce a larger screen which may measure around 10.1 inch or even 10.25 inch. A bigger display would make the dashboard look more modern and improve usability for navigation and media functions.
The new system could also support wireless smartphone connectivity. The current model still uses wired connections for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which means this update would make the system easier to use. The head up display with navigation information is already part of the Brezza package and it is expected to continue in the facelift as well.
Front Parking Sensors May Finally Be Added
One missing feature on the current Brezza is front parking sensors. The SUV offers reverse sensors as standard and also a 360 degree camera on the top ZXI Plus variant where as front sensors are still absent.
Adding front parking sensors would make parking easier in tight spaces which is useful in crowded cities. The feature could appear in the mid and higher variants where buyers usually expect more driver assistance technology.
Six Speed Manual Gearbox Could Improve Highway Driving
The current Brezza uses a five speed manual gearbox. It is simple and reliable which suits everyday driving. However the facelift may introduce a six speed manual transmission.
A sixth gear mainly helps during highway driving because the engine runs at lower speed while cruising. Lower engine revolutions usually lead to better fuel efficiency and reduced cabin noise which makes long distance travel more comfortable.
CNG Model May Become More Practical
The CNG version of the Brezza currently places the gas cylinder inside the boot area which reduces luggage space. Maruti Suzuki has already started using an underbody CNG layout on some newer models where the tank sits beneath the floor.
If the Brezza adopts this layout the boot space would remain usable even in the CNG variant. For buyers choosing the CNG option this change could make the SUV far more practical for everyday use.
Engine Options Likely to Stay the Same
Large mechanical changes are not expected, will likely continue with the familiar 1.5 litre K15C petrol engine which produces about 102 bhp and 137 Nm of torque.
The factory fitted CNG variant is also expected to remain unchanged with an output of around 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque.
There is also some discussion about a smaller turbo petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki could consider a 1.2 litre turbocharged engine based on the three cylinder motor used in the Swift. Under India’s sub four metre tax structure smaller petrol engines attract lower duties which means this option could help control pricing.
A turbocharged unit could also deliver stronger mid range torque which improves overtaking ability. However this remains a possibility rather than a confirmed change because Maruti Suzuki usually focuses more on fuel efficiency and long term reliability instead of high performance engines.
Feature Distribution Across Variants May Change
The facelift could also bring a small reshuffle of features across the variant lineup. In the current Brezza some practical features such as the front armrest are limited to the top ZXI Plus variant while mid variants receive more cosmetic additions like alloy wheels or a sunroof.
A better balance between comfort features and visual upgrades across different trims could improve value for buyers choosing mid level variants.
Launch Could Happen in the Coming Months
Frequent sightings of test vehicles suggest that the updated Brezza is moving closer to launch. Development appears to be in the final stages which indicates Maruti Suzuki may introduce the refreshed SUV in the coming months.
For Buyers
Most expected updates are practical features which current owners have already been asking for. Front parking sensors are one example: Many SUVs in this price range already offer them, where as the current Brezza only provides rear sensors and a 360 degree camera on the top variant. Adding front sensors would make parking easier in tight city spaces.
A possible six speed manual gearbox could benefit highway drivers. With an extra gear the engine can run at lower RPM during cruising which means better fuel efficiency and less engine noise on long drives.
The underbody CNG tank layout could also make a noticeable difference because current CNG version reduces boot space because the cylinder sits inside the luggage area. Moving the tank below the floor would allow buyers to keep usable luggage space.
The larger touchscreen update also reflects a wider trend in this segment. Rivals now offer bigger displays and wireless smartphone connectivity which means the Brezza needs similar upgrades to remain competitive.
Overall the expected changes suggest Maruti Suzuki is focusing on practical improvements while keeping the core strengths of the Brezza unchanged.
