Tata Sierra EV Official Teaser Reveals Design and Dual-Motor AWD Setup

The Tata Sierra EV has been teased ahead of launch with a preview of its cabin and the dual-motor AWD Setup

Tata Motors has released a teaser of its latest electric SUV, the Sierra EV. The teaser shows the electric SUV running through the desert and urban terrain while also offering a quick glimpse of its cabin. Sierra EV is set to launch on June 30 and will sit below the Harrier EV in Tata's electric lineup.

At the front, the Sierra EV gets a split-headlamp setup with a slim LED DRL strip at the top and vertically stacked headlamps down below. There's a completely closed-off grille, wide lower air dam with silver accents and a bumper that gives it an aggressive look. The flat bonnet and sharply raked windscreen further strengthen its SUV stance.

The rear features a large black glass panel along with a full-width LED light bar. There's also a roof spoiler, tall tailgate, Tata logo and Sierra.ev branding that enhance its appearance. Other design elements include the black bumper with silver skid plate and green EV number plate. Overall, the design remains largely similar to its ICE counterpart.

The interior of the Sierra EV gets a flat-bottom steering wheel, paddle shifter, and a large centrally mounted touchscreen which appears to be the same 12.3-inch unit offered on the standard Sierra. Other features might include a fully digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and a front passenger display.

Some other features expected to be present in the Sierra EV include dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, powered tailgate, JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos and Level 2 ADAS.

The Sierra EV comes with an adventure-inspired boxy silhouette with flush-fit door handles, squared wheel arches with black cladding, roof rails and dual tone alloy wheels. The tall glasshouse and body coloured rear pillars remain true to the classic Sierra design cues. The video also shows the Sierra EV tackling sandy terrain, hinting at its capability with the dual-motor AWD configuration.

High-spec variants of the Sierra EV will come with a dual-motor AWD system, confirmed by the "QWD Dual Motor" badge found in the teaser. The Sierra EV will use 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs just like the Harrier EV. Tata hasn't officially announced the range figures for the electric SUV, but variants equipped with the larger battery pack are expected to offer over 500 km of range on a single charge.

The Sierra EV will also support DC fast charging along with V2L and V2V functions, allowing users to power external devices or charge another EV. The Sierra EV will be Tata Motors' seventh electric vehicle in India and will be positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV. Upon launch, the Sierra EV will compete with Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.
