Ather 450X Overtones Launched At Rs 1.53 Lakh With 900W charger

Ather Energy Launches 450X Overtones With New Colours, Faster Charger, and New tone-on-tone design

Ather Energy has launched the 450X Overtones, a new version of its flagship electric scooter, priced at Rs 1.53 lakh (ex-showroom). The Bengaluru-based EV maker has introduced the new range with a tone-on-tone design theme, available in three colour options: Still White, Space Grey, and Lunar Grey.

The 450X Overtones retains the scooter's familiar silhouette but gets new graphics and design elements across the body. Ather says these updates highlight its "under-the-skin performance" approach. The changes are purely cosmetic, giving the scooter a fresher look without altering its overall design.

Faster Charging With a New 900W Charger

One of the biggest practical updates is the new 900W charger. Ather says this charger cuts charging time by close to 30 percent compared to the previous charger. For daily riders, this means less time spent waiting and more time on the road.

Features Carried Over From Before

The 450X Overtones does not drop any of the features that riders already know. It still comes with AutoHold, Magic Twist, and Multi Mode Traction Control. The Infinite Cruise function also remains part of the package. This feature helps the scooter maintain a steady speed on open roads. It also makes riding easier at low speeds, on rough roads, and while tackling uphill or downhill sections.

Atherstack 7 Brings Voice Control and New Safety Tools

The 450X Overtones runs on Atherstack 7, the company's latest software platform. It brings a feature called "Voice on Ather." Riders can use voice commands to get navigation directions, find nearby charging stations, and adjust vehicle settings like display brightness.

Atherstack 7 also adds several safety features. CrashAlert can detect when an accident happens and will automatically send a text message to the rider's emergency contacts. Another feature, ParkSafe, works through the Ather app and warns riders before they park in areas known for theft or towing. There is also LockSafe, which lets riders immobilize the scooter's motor remotely through the app. This can help prevent theft when the scooter is parked in open spaces.

Halo Smart Helmet Joins the Lineup

Alongside the scooter, Ather has introduced the Halo smart helmet. This helmet connects to both the rider's phone and the scooter's dashboard, allowing riders to listen to music, navigation prompts and calls through the helmet instead of using earphones. The Halo helmet works with the 450X Overtones series as well.

What's Next for Ather

Ather Energy also has plans for a new electric scooter called the EL01, which is currently under development for the Indian market. This scooter is aimed at the mass-market segment and will be positioned as a lower-cost, family-focused option. It is set to introduce Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) technology to the Indian market for the first time.

Ather had already filed a design patent for the EL01 in India last year. The scooter will use a new electric motor mounted on the swingarm, a layout different from what the company currently uses in its existing models.

The 450X's Role in Ather's Current Lineup

The 450X Overtones arrives at a time when Ather's sales are being driven by a different product. While the 450X now contributes only around 17 percent of the company's monthly sales, the Rizta family scooter accounts for roughly 75 percent. That shows the 450X is no longer Ather's main volume driver, but it continues to play an important role as the brand's premium performance scooter.

The company's recent sales performance reflects this shift. Ather delivered 163,788 units in the first half of 2026, reaching 76 percent of its total sales for the whole of 2025 by the end of June. At the current pace, it is on track to sell around 325,000 units this calendar year, with the Rizta contributing the bulk of that growth.

Ather's financial performance also helps explain the company's approach. Operating losses fell from Rs 812 crore in FY25 to Rs 517 crore in FY26, while EBITDA margin improved to negative 2.5 percent in the fourth quarter of FY26. With the company moving closer to operating break-even, focusing investment on higher-volume products makes business sense, while the 450X continues to strengthen Ather's premium image in the electric scooter market.
